If you study in deep, you'll know that Sadam commited the most terrible atrocities while he was good friends with the US. Apparently, when he was gassing Kurds Bush Sr didn't give a damn, and even vetoed UN resolutions against his regime. Sadam was a ruthless criminal, no less than other dictators who have the American approval.

Exactly my point... there is no one that didn't get hosed by Saddam. Yes, his regime was dangerous enough to the entire world that the entire world said, "let's get him!" What happened that was wrong was how instead of allowing the world's greatest military to do its job. We can look at this being repeated time and time again from WWI forward.

If we are going to war, "damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead." Politicians and mediamen (and women) have no business setting policy once the decision is made to go. It's like trying to put out a fire with fear of water damage. Had Rumsfeld, as John McCain so properly points out, let the soldiers and sailors do their jobs, we would not have the political mess the 2008 election is turning out to be.
