Everyone agrees, our country is deeply divided.

Divide and conquer.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Why aren't we hearing our president, our senators, our congressmen and women, and all the other "public servants" talking about uniting America? They all seem to be silent on possibly the biggest problem we face as a nation.

with the change of management in fox news, that might take 10 to 20 years.

Republicans and democrats would both have to move the center.

I personally would prefer splits in both parties so that we can get more choices in candidates.

The economy would also have to improve and rust belt would need more people employed.

Division gets votes.

We just had an election where one candidate tried the "can't we all just get along" approach and the other tried the "blame these people, blame those people, hate this group, hate that group" approach. Guess which one is in the oval office...

Division says, "It's not your fault. It's because of the Jews/Mexicans/Blacks/Gays/Muslims/Liberal Snowflakes/whatever." That's a pretty nice story - it absolves the voter of all personal responsibility.

It will be up to Pence after the trump impeachment/resignation to do what he can, but his politics are very far right of most Americans. Pence = Gerald Ford. Hold it together until the next election.

Trump is trying to unite the nation. The media and liberals are trying to divide it.

I'm hesitant to support unity. The reason is this phrase: "strength in unity." Sounds harmless, but it came out of fascist Italy.

National unity is a concept that is very difficulty to separate from fascism. Unity tends to mean unity of ideals, which isn't necessarily a good thing. That's why I prefer harmony. It allows for a range of ideas, that all work together.

No doubt, the idea of common interest in important and we do need more of that. But disagreement is not something we should fear; it allows us to have good ideas, by putting everything out there. What we need is to learn how to disagree better.

Trump calls the media fake news and is often openly hostile to Democrats. That's not unity. That's changing the narrative of who is an American. When you exclude certain people from being an American, you can sell that as unifying America under one opinion. But it's still destroying the republican aspect of America. No matter how you sell it.

Pence is taliban and would be far more effective in rolling out a conservative agenda that would rival the islamic state and saudi arabia combined.

trump is a narcissist that thinks he's trying to get rating on reality TV and sell his brand.

Its steve bannon and the deceased robert ailes that are trying to divide the nation.

Because that won't get them elected. Actually, the last guy who ran on hope and unity routinely got called out for being, of all things, divisive!
