Fargo city commissioner faces recall threat for claims about refugees - StarTribune.com

I guess even questioning out loud the expense of the refugee programs is enough for petitioners rushing out trying to recall a city commisioner for just questioning the expenses of refugees and the strain on the system.

How sad it is that just for questioning the massive amounts that are spent on refugees is enough for a possible recall.

The people trying to get out of office are accusing the lifelong Fargoan for not supporting diversity.

This while the Measles outbreak spreads like crazy throughout the Twin Cities. It was contained to the Somali's but has spread out side of the community.

The issue is so severe that $5 million has been asked for with emergency state funds. The state also has had to designate 70 people in the health department just to deal with the outbreak.

The epidemic can become quelled quickly enough. Sounds like the state has already taken the right steps to stop it.

When people quit getting vaccinations, measles happens. It doesn't have to come from without to start an epidemic, either. All it takes is a low vaccination rate for a few decades.

After some kids are blinded, brain damaged or are born with severe defects, the immunization rate always rises and the risk of epidemic fades away again.

Herd immunity counts, but it only lasts for so long before it weakens, and measles is patient; it's always there, surrounding us all every second, waiting for a chance to move in and take over.

Diversity is what it is. Some fear it. Others embrace it. Can't change a person's mind on it once a mind is made up. Problems arise from both directions.

Refugees and muslims in particular seems to have an increase level of diabetes and now during the Ramadan the amount of muslims that need to be treated in ER in Europe is driving the health care cost up so much.

That was in a news article today. This is due to people with diabetes need to eat food every few hours which muslims don't do during the Ramadan and doctors are calling on muslims to be careful as the cost is so much and not necessary.

Competely fabrictaed Bu**Sh** by some ignorant knothead.

If diabetes was such a perpetual threat, a 30-day fast would never have become a part of any religion. And Muslims are not forbidden to drink during the daylight hours. Liquid intake is as important for a diabetic as food, especially in a hot climate.

And when it comes to life and death, any religious practice accommodates the afflicted.

Diabetes was not real prevalent 1200 years ago.

Because the Flying Spaghetti Monster said so. Get a grip. THOUSANDS?????? Faux News is truly going to hell and all you cons are in for the ride. Good grief! I would like to say that the misinformation that is rife on this board is beyond belief. Unfortunately, when it comes to the right (NOT!), it's just more of the same old, same old.

Try reading the link that your own side posted in the OP:

North Dakota's resettlement program began in 1946, when the Lutheran Welfare Society — which became Lutheran Social Services — began accepting mostly Protestants fleeing Nazi Germany. The group has resettled an average of 450 refugees a year in the past decade, about 70 percent of whom wind up in Cass County, mostly in Fargo.

Damn those evil Lutherans! How dare they impose 315 refugees/yr from EVERYWHERE on Fargo? When will it ever end? Not until the last American with compassion is hunted down and locked up by the ever so right who hate America even more than ISIS does.

Refugees from Somalia have been settling in cities like Minneapolis and Columbus for decades and it was never a problem before, why now? Oh right, I forgot who was president.

No, Mike, measles is not "always there". It was totally eliminated - meaning it no longer circulates in the wild - in the US in 2000 and in all of the Americas in 2016. It indeed does have to come from without, and the outbreak in MN was imported either by an American who caught it abroad or a foreign visitor who brought it in.

Herd immunity does not last "for so long before it weakens". It weakens when vaccination rates drop below the threshold needed to sustain it.
