You clearly missed the point of the OP. Those are all the things we continually hear from the right regarding minorities in the inner cities. Why don't they relocate? Why aren't they willing to pull themselves up by their bootstraps instead of expecting handouts? This forum is full of such posts regarding minorities.

The OP is just turning those same questions back on another depressed population, one that happens to be NOT a minority.

And now you're finding that it doesn't feel good to be stereotyped, does it?

The vast majority of people are responsible for their circumstances regardless of race, ethnicity or gender.

Circular logic slave conditioning 101 to be exact. It is like a tsar bomb in the arsenal of plutocracy.

Doubling down on that excuse I see.

Are you defending stereotyping or attempting to make excuses for the OP's stereotyping?

In my state of Michigan, the unemployment rate is 5%. This is a healthy number. People have no reason to leave right now. In Detroit, the unemployment rate is about double, at 9.8%. This is not a healthy number. People who cannot find work should consider leaving. In fact, that is what they've been doing for 50 years now. It hasn't helped. Thing have consistently gotten worse, and the unemployment rate is usually double the state unemployment rate during any economic cycle.

The truth is, the nation's economic policies laid a world of hurt on cities like Detroit. Bootstrapping won't solve their problem. A new direction and strategy for the nation as a whole might. Otherwise, democrat cities like Detroit will continue to wither, and nobody will have a care in the world. I know liberals are selfish, but I never thought they would sacrifice their own for big money interests. Cowards...

My thinking anyone on welfare is working class....I interpreted the question to mean specifically the working class in the rust-belt...not all working class...just those.

And the OP has a point...it is true that unemployed in more urban centers who need govt. assistance are portrayed as lazy and not willing to work.

But somehow those unemployed in rural areas are the forgotten and need the federal govt. to set jobs up for them.
