That stat is a bit spooky ..... men apparently are finding happiness by not participating in the labor force.

Feminism is backfiring on them. We gave them the jobs, now they don't want em. What we're seeing is a paradox where a lot of women want all of the benefits of the "old" system or traditional system, but still want to be treated the same as a man and want all of the benefits of the more modern era.

Like a lot of women still want to marry a man that makes more money than them but we gave them a lot of the high paying jobs. So now a lot of women make more money than men. Stay at home dads were unheard of 40 years ago, but more common now.

Side note : The wage gap has been debunked by financial and economic analysts, there is no such thing. Men just work more hours on average.

“I had a very established career,” Villaluna said. Then, in September, her plan to get a state subsidy for child care fell through, and the single mom couldn’t afford to spend thousands of dollars on private day care. The day she gave up her beloved 9-to-5 job, she cried for hours."

"She went into day-care centers with her newborn daughter and begged the people working there to help her get state funding for child care.

“I went in person, to people’s faces, like ‘please pick us,’ ” she said. “I really, really wanted to go back to work.”

In California, 434,000 children of low-income parents get subsidies for child care, though the state hasn’t updated the income limit to qualify for more than a decade. Another 1.5 million Californians are eligible for the programs, according to the California Budget & Policy Center.

Villaluna gave up. “No matter what job I get, we are going to be in the negative, so I might as well take care of her myself,” she said."

OK, the state has an obligation to subsidize her return to work

What's he explanation for males declining participation? Did feminism do that too?

LOL, you think government support is bad? How about support at home. There are actually men who won't do their share and leave childcare and domestic care up to the woman.

That's already been covered, we're talking about women, not men. Men have been struggling in the workplace for a while now and more women than men are going to college.

Supposedly, the decline is based on a gender pay gap and inflexible schedules.

Also, the lack of new legislation for new child care or free time off.

I guess the solution according to liberals is flexible schedules for people who have children, free child care and paid time off.
It's childless single women. See chart in middle of article.

They're living with their parents till their late 20's or early 30's.

Many of them worked in retail which is in decline. If they graduated college with a degree and worked in retail, they have to find work unrelated to their training.

Actually for many, it's the other way around. The wife works full time but there are men that have one foot stuck in the old system and one in the new. They want the wife to bring home the money but won't help with the children and household chores.

I can bring home the bacon,
fry it up in the pan,
and never, never, never let you forget you're a man,
because I'm a woooman... Ajali

I think that commercial ran in the late 70's or early 80's, can't remember exactly when.

You may be right, I recall watching a program where professional woman with good careers wanted to now stay home and be a full time mother, in the case of the show the husbands are like sorry but our lifestyle depends on both of us working. Woman wanted equality and it is a double edged sword, I agree that the pay should be the same but I wonder if it is in woman run companies????

It's amazing how wrong your posts always are. I'm a liberal & I don't believe that.

There should be no right to the assets of others.
What do you mean men don't have a choice? They could stay home & raise children if they wanted & the woman could work.
