Unauthorized leaks of classified information is a crime.

The president has the authority to declassify anything at any time and share it with foreign entities as he deems necessary. Perfectly legal.

Get a grip.

Apparently, you are unaware that Trump can unilaterally decide to declassify and share practically anything at the drop of a hat.

Were you unaware of this or just asking a ridiculously stupid question?
But it is not illegal to leak about the existence of confidential information. That existence may or may not be confidential in itself.

It's obvious now that the FBI, CIA, and DHS have some recordings of some confidential meetings that they are keeping secret, but have openly acknowledged their existence. That's why the Special Prosecutor was hired in the first place; without some proof to back up the leaks, they were only rumors.

So, even if the info that some back-channel discussions with the Russian Ambassador & Trump was confidential when it was leaked, it is not now. Any penalty the leakers might have faced is now moot, so they wouldn't be charged with a crime if or when their names were finally disclosed.

There are a lot of people in and out of government who believe in transparency. When everything is transparent, we are all safer from the dark world of spies and counter-spies, real news and fake news, real crimes and trumped-up crimes.

Of course, it is impossible to reveal every secret we keep. To do so would be a very dangerous thing in a world full of tension and nuclear warheads. But the more we all know about what's happening in our government, the safer we are from government transgressions on our freedom and liberty.

So it's a matter of delicate balance.

So, after 8 pages of back and forth, we all learn that the story was partially correct.
Trump fired his Communications Director Michael Dubke this morning.

The "3 leakers" haven't been identified yet, and for all we know, may not even exist as the OP's article claimed. The leaks could have come from anywhere in the White House, including Trump himself. Warning some firings are on the way is a common practice in the business world for the supervisors as much as the staff.

It makes sense that Dubke got fired; as the Director, he is responsible for all the info going out of the White House. He's also the new kid- Trump didn't get around to hiring a director for a long time, and let Spicer do both jobs until the work overwhelmed him.

Trump doesn't want to fire Spicer just yet, so the new kid got the axe. Also very typical in the business world.

I'd say this if this were happening on Obama's watch. We can't have this stuff getting leaked, it doesn't do anyone any good. It undermines everything.
Trump is doing that all by himself with his stupid tweets.

My guess is that how he declassified things is just saying he did. He has no clue and yes, is that stupid.

Is he one of the leakers? Did he get in an argument with Trump?

Will someone leak the details?
Dubke gave his resignation on May 18, according to a senior Trump administration official who spoke with Axios’s Mike Allen. It came ahead of Trump’s first foreign trip last week, but Dubke offered to stay on temporarily, which Trump accepted.

He resigned on May 18th but said he would stay on to help a little.

Same goes for Hillary but the media ignores DemoncRats scandals why they are in collaboration with them ... giving questions in advance of the debate. Why Hillary had signals to Lester Holt when she wanted a loaded question.

Why is it that despite countless stories about "three known leakers" in the White House, that no names are ever given? If they do exist, after this criminal occupation of our government is ended, they should be given medals for patriotism.
