Oh you CAN live on it. Just not comfortably, nor in a large city. Most countries have universal healthcare.

Minimum wage is about that much take home. A TON of people survive on it.

Unless you get section 8 along with $1100 you can't survive on that.

Of course you can survive off of $1100 a month. You're just going to need some roommates, but you can totally do it and live okay. Won't be able to do much in life...which seems pointless, but you can definitely surive and if you don't want to try to save any money to let it grow, well, you'll be able to afford a little pizza every so often, or maybe go see a movie once or twice a month.

If you and someone you're with both live in the same place and earn your little $1100/mo, that's $2200/mo which means you'll have a little more breathing room. In fact, if you and your friend who both make minimum wage bring home $2200 and you live in a $1000/mo apartment, you'll actually have about $500 left over each month after bills and food...as long as you don't pay more than your rent, electric, medium speed internet, and maybe car insurance if you choose the right place to live. Then you spend some on food, and save $500 a month.

Do that for 5 years, you've got yourself a $30,000 college education totally paid for. Then you can earn more money.

As others said, 1,100 a month is indeed something you can live on, just not comfortably.

Studio apt in idaho for example is about $400/mo. Food, utilities, etc...its livable. Only thing you need is health insurance.

Its about the same as minimum wage take home, and millions manage that.

Nonsense.

40 million Americans are living off of less then 12,070 a year currently. If 40 million can do it, im sure most people can. IF we cover their medical.

Only 7.8 million work more then one job.

Fun fact, I am currently one of them, but I have a 6 figure income. So its not just minimum wage folks working 2 jobs.

I've lived off a little more than that (about 1300 in dollars) and survived happily enough, me and my kid when I was a single mum. I get about that much a month right now in labour market subsidy but also have a part time job which will bring in a little more.
