If protecting the environment is so dire, why does there need to be an agreement? Why isn't it just done on it's own? Why is there trillions of dollars coming out of the US to poor nations? MONEY doesn't cure the environment, it pollutes it further by allowing these nations to keep on polluting.

How much would it cost us for a new planet after we destroy this one?

We can't destroy the planet. It will continue on after the asteroid hits us that wipes us out.

From your post, I assume you are a believer that human actions affect the climate. How do you propose we go about preventing further destruction?

How much money do you think it would take to "cure" polluted water so that we can drink it?

Will it be habitable until then as far as climate, quality of water, and quality of air?

yes i remember, but it wasnt the stricter laws that was the engine of change, but rather all the commercials telling the consumers how bad the trash on the roads looked, and how much it harmed everyone that was the engine of change in that arena. we can do the same thing in other areas as well. government regulations can be good, but for the most part are barriers to innovation.

on the other hand, the consumer can be a very powerful force for change, and can drive innovation. why? because business realizes that the consumer spends the money they make, and if they dont innovate, the money goes elsewhere.

It looks to me more like big oil and Wall street are coming around to a new point of view. The business community is nothing if not practical.

Something else you might want to consider ...

Shipping Plans Grow as Arctic Ice Fades
The international business community is adjusting to the new realities as climate changes. This includes many US companies.

"It is now becoming clear that interest in Arctic shipping never really faded, as a host of countries— including Russia, China, Iceland, Canada, and the United States — continue to make preparations to turn the rapidly warming Arctic into a busy global shipping route. "

Also, how about a vacation? ...
MV Crystal Serenity cruises

Well if we keep denying climate change caused by human behavior, invest in water and air purifying technology. Also, build a house that can withstand tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods.
