Shareholders and holders of stock have the power of the purse to rebel against corporations that don't protect our environment.

Quote:
ExxonMobil management was defeated Wednesday by a shareholder rebellion over climate change, as investors with 62.3 percent of shares voted to instruct the oil giant to report on the impact of global measures designed to keep climate change to 2 degrees centigrade.
Quote:
The shareholder vote on climate change came on a day when President Trump appeared to be nearing a decision on whether to exit the Paris climate agreement, underlining the deep political and economic divisions over how to deal with the global challenge. Even as the Trump administration’s commitment to the climate accord wavered, the Exxon vote showed that climate concerns were gaining ground in the business world.

There is money in "global warming"... ironically you left out that it was Hedge Fund managers that voted for it... the same Hedge Fund managers that make money on "global warming" investments...

Good for them. They are putting the future of their children ahead of a few pieces of silver they can get today. More power to them.

We are all of a sudden going to see the Left supporting big oil and Wall Street. They drift their alliances and principles around like a piece of toilet paper in the wind

and perhaps that is the better way to go instead of government taxes and regulations, get the stock holders to demand change in company policy and products. get the consumers to buy products that are environmentally friendly as well. just remember that they have to work as well as previous products.

You are confusing the point. Our principles have not drifted. We support protecting our climate/environment. When there is a move to protect that, as was noted by these shareholders, we applaud that. Are you able to sort that out?

Exxon will pass the costs of this onto consumers who really don't have much choice about guying their product. If they can push coal out the way that electric generation will be replaced with natural gas...supplied by Exxon. It's not rocket science.

You are naive if you think that is the reason, this has everything to do with money.

Remember what our roads and public areas looked like before strict laws against littering were enacted?
