It would be so funny if that actually happened and they took the jobs and urban economies (that actually fund the country) with them.

Set up the GoFundMe pages. I'd rather contribute to them leaving than send money to some politician on Capitol Hill.

Inviting "Trump-haters" to move to France. Macron apparently is a fairly good student of French History as well, in addition to his other specializations.

In particular, he remembers Louis XIVs revoking the Edict of Nantes in 1685, the Edict proclaimed in 1598 granting Hugenots (French Protestants) the right to worship without persecution. Hugenots were overrepresented among scholars, merchants, (and I presume financiers, too). Result: Brain Drain to England, The Netherlands, and to Germany - eventually enriching France's future enemies. A lot of them also immigrated to what is now South Africa, then a Dutch colony, contributing greatly to the development of Afrikaner culture. No matter how you slice it, the new lands gained talent and wealth at the old homeland's expense.

Now I admit there's no outright "visits in the night" to scientists and other "Trump-haters" akin to a police state. This still does not change the fact that people who can afford to do so will go to where they're appreciated. If they can't get it in their present locale, then they'll go somewhere else (and take with them their minds, their talents, their ideas, their business plans, music and artistic skills, etc. that contribute to societal well-being - and in many cases economic growth).

The Takeaway: "Dissing" people you disagree with or with traits you find distasteful is bad social policy and not good for your society's economic well-being, if not outright national survival.

If you're getting more genuine respect / appreciation from the powers-that-be in "that other place", then paying taxes to your new abode may not be such a bad deal. Also, it's not like the US is shirking that kind of stuff either - from labor recruiters in Eastern Europe and Italy in the 19th century selling America to downtrodden foreigners to immigration friendly policies for people in the computer and software industry today. If it's ok for the US to do it, then it's ok for France to do so.

Unfortunately most liberals don't hold marketable degrees nor do they have any money.

It's preferred however that you have a marketable college degree and some money.

I'll go one better and set up a go fund me page for each and everyone, with a one way ticket and Mayflower moving to get your stuff there. No need for a car over there.

Personally, I find the whole discussion of wealth regarding voting appalling. I have a bachelors degree and am not a rocket scientist.
People with high end degrees aren't necessarily smarter and certainly don't have any more common sense than anyone else. Most people who don't have college degrees are still hard working, love their country and families and want what's best. Wealthy people and people with doctorates don't have a monopoly on being human beings. When is this class division nonsense going to end?

What an absurd thing to say,. But I have a feeling you know that, even though you've probably barely ever been outside of what you choose to be familiar with. Clearly, you've lived a very sheltered life.

It seems to me that, through all your claims that we "can't get over" Trump winning, it's really YOU ALL who can't get over it. I'm like burdell. Ain't no fat, stupid con man politician gonna ruin my life. I don't look to politicians to define me, and I'm not hung up on "winning" like you all are.

Politics - even in the conservative Excited States of America - is cyclical. Always has been, always will be. The Democrats will be back. You mark my words. So, I'm not overly concerned. Trump irritates the hell out of me, because he's so freaking stupid, so I just don't watch him or listen to him. Simple.

Plus, there's always a silver lining: comedians, both in the US and internationally, have never had such great fodder. I haven't laughed so much and so hard since dipshi*t Palin was the Republican nominee for VP. I'm having fun, actually, and I might even miss Trumpty Dumpty a little when he leaves.
Yeppers, NDG (may I call you that?)

As I said in a thread I started a few months ago, these bashers just wanna have it both ways - Side A want it to be socially unacceptable for Side B people to object to Side A's hero winning/villain losing. Yet Side A makes all kinds of excuses about complaining when their own hero loses/villain wins.

To be consistent, Side A has to admit either

(a) The other side has just as much right to vigorously object to their favored candidate as they themselves object to the disfavored candidate OR

(b) Admit they themselves are unworthy of disrespect when they object to their disfavored candidate.

OR... both sides can admit that a person does not deserve disrespect when he or she objects to their disfavored candidate's acts or expressions (I personally see the distinction as meaningless, if existent at all; but that's another topic).

Good luck! It's a ROYAL PITA to get a work visa in France. I speak French and couldn't get one.

You have to have a job lined up in order to apply. The other problem is most jobs won't hire foreigners unless they already have a work visa. Lastly, competition is fierce, so companies are unlikely to hire foreigners because there are already a lot of French applicants.

Most people get a work visa after coming to France on a student visa. Or they transfer to a French branch of their US company.
