the entire 100 billion deal was a lie.
Eh, pick your battles. He was dishonest, yes. But this is actually pretty standard politics (which should arguably annoy Trump supporters even more since that's exactly what they didn't want). Spin is a big part of the game. Up here, there's a long-stalled $2.5 billion (and rising) commuter rail project which our previous Governor vowed during his campaign to make it happen. He didn't. But right around time for reelection, he allocated about $60 million to improve a section of the track for a separate freight rail project. He proclaimed that he had made huge progress on the Commuter Rail project and the photos of him with golden shovels and construction crews replacing rails and overpasses seemed to validate his claim. And technically, he wasn't entirely lying because the rail and bridge upgrades DID benefit the commuter rail project (which is still stalled), but it was misleading.

That's what Trump did here. He spun it. It's a significant reach, but there are grains of truth. This is why it's important to get the whole story. It's also pretty typical of any politician. It's hard to get big things done in 2,3, and 4 year terms with all of the red tape to deal with. So they exaggerate to make their accomplishments seem bigger. I don't like it (no matter who is doing it), but Trump actually looks like a real politician here.

Odd that there was a vote to block this "fake deal".

The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : Five Democrat Votes Allow Trump's Saudi Weapons Deal To Clear Senate

Even worse because my Senator voted to allow the sale. I've defending Manchin in the past but never again. I do see him on occasion and the next time it might get a bit heated.
