I actually do go to Wingstop sometimes. There's no way to cook them myself in my 200sf studio (with less than a foot of counter space combined and a super sensitive smoke alarm). Plus, my health freak husband would have a panic attack if he saw me actually deep frying something lol.
But the Wingstop is close to where I work, so if I'm craving wings, I get my fix during lunch hour.
The other chains? Nah. We eat out almost every day, but we prefer the local mom and pop ethnic joints.
The chains that are doing well seem to be Chipotle, Jimmy Johns, and Chic Fil A. Fast food that's slightly better than your usual suspects.
I know that I go out of my way to go to local restaurants every time.
There's a little burger place by my office that grills per order and is dollars cheaper than McDs and the like.
Makes sense, because they have the convenience factor and have slightly better quality than their competitors at similar prices.
By the time you have walked into an Applebees or such you have already sacrificed the convenience factor, what else can they compete on?
Price? Nope, many local restaurants are the same or cheaper.
Taste? Nope, your local hole in the wall spots beat them on that as well.
Health? Hahahahaha.
So they have the same level of convenience with worse food at the same prices. Gee I wonder why they are failing?
How could the Millenials bring down anything when they have no money?
Why not stay on topic instead of resorting to your usual nonsensical blather?
Chains are hideous. There is no question local is superior to chains. The food is much better quality not to mention usually healthier. I avoid chains like the plague & I have for years & im not a millennial.
Olive Garden was one of the early pioneers in getting that microwaved food out into the public realm. I honestly have no idea how they've stayed in business this long.
I think it's overpriced but Panera Bread can be ok sometimes and I'll give Noodles and Co. props for showing me just how many calories Pad Thai really is. It's not pretty.
Why is this in the politics section? Why not move this thread to the business or food forum.
I think it started out as a bash on millennials. They've been the subject of various political theories lately. But yeah it probably should be moved at this point.
