Who gets to define "what is right," and which laws can simply be "overridden" based on their opinion?

This is how dictatorships get started.

If you cannot govern or legislate within the confines the law, you should not hold office. Period. If rights can be violated because you feel desperate, then they can be violated whenever, and this is unacceptable.

You just described what the Obama admin had done for 8 years. Picking and choosing which laws to uphold. You can't make this stuff up.

Obama broke the law any time he wanted to and you cheered him on. Save us from for your hypocrisy please.

Move over, Trump. You now have backup.
Move over Trump. You now have a fellow hypocrite with an election pending.

"...Can I just remind you that in 2005 Theresa May voted against the anti-terror legislation at that time. She voted against it, as did David Davis, as did a number of people that are now in your cabinet because they felt that the legislation was giving too much executive power..."

Well that sounds like a very dangerous move indeed.

I'm curious how voters will react. Are they so scared that they're willing to throw away their rights? Or are they rational and thoughtful enough to be horrified that May would even suggest something like this?
