Memos written by the Director of the FBI are Federal government property, they become Federal Records the minute they are written - it's a lot different than a memo from the wife to pick up bread and milk on the way home. He stated exactly why he kept and released memos about Donald Trump - he wanted a Special Prosecutor to be appointed. He failed to explain why he never once wrote any memos about all his conversations with people in the Obama Administration ...... even though the New York Times reported that James Comey habitually wrote memos of his conversations.
Not according to Trump. Trump specifically said it was because of the Russian investigation.
The only way I could see that happening is because he refused to tell us Trump was not being investigated. Our national security was in trouble because our president was under the cloud that he was under investigation. It was hampering his ability to govern. Loyalty to our government would have dictated that cloud be removed. Comey refused to do that according to the reports I have seen today.
The cloud is gone now and I think Trump won this one. Trump has done nothing wrong through the whole thing. Maybe we can be a great nation now and the nation can get to prosecuting those from the last administration who need to be exposed. The leaking needs to stop. If you want to tell the nation something, admit it in a tweet. We need to know where the information is coming from. The truth will come out. The truth has come out and now we need to move on.
It wasn't government property. They were his own notes. They were not classified. He is not in any sort of legal jeopardy for releasing what he did.
How do you know? If he took those notes as FBI Director then I'd easily challenge you prove they are not indeed government property. That's the way it works when you sign disclosures to work for the goverment or most major corporations. Anything you create is theirs first.
He fired him because he wasn't trustworthy. He fell under the Clinton pressure and let a guilty person off the hook. He got what he deserved.
