The hatred I see in this country is clearly perpetuated by media sources that not only condone things like the portrayal of the assassination of a President, but actually double down by their support of it. And do spare me the 1st amendment crap (some of this nonsense crosses the line). And the moderators here let things go entirely too far on a number of threads (feel free to suspend me if you're offended by someone giving you a dose of honesty). It's sad how little civil discourse there is. But apparently when people are behind a computer with their cloak of anonymity, anything goes. I think it's pathetic the way some people act towards others that don't share their viewpoints.
Unfortunately anonymity lets people be who they really are. They say things here that they would never say face to face. I'll admit that I've been guilty of that a few times. But you're right. The hatred on both sides has gone too far. At some point we'll have no choice but to acknowledge that as a nation.
We are living in a world of too much information, period.
People mentally on the edge are fed idea after idea. Decades ago they'd just go crazy sitting alone in a room (I'm generalizing here). Is it just the media? Blame Al Gore for creating the internet . One tweet gets around the world in seconds. You walk around with news in your pocket (cell phone). There are videos for making bad things.
I get mad at the media. But it's not just the media, or the left or right. It's just the flow of information.
Liberals are proving to be more hate filled than the KKK. Rabid liberals have been pushing for something like this ever since Hillary lost.

Media sources are just feeding people what they want to hear. They should try to do better, but the fact is that they're there to make money. Outrage sells. Dehumanizing your opposition sells. Politicians and their surrogates do it to because it riles up the base (see: 'not even people').
I'm not seeing much hope of anything changing unless the people change.
