The fee has really hurt local gun shops, but I'm sure the antis are okay with gun shops closing.

We've got a 5cents per round of ammo tax as well.

I love this city, but hate the politics here. The Democrats act like they care for everyone, but all they really want is your money to line their pockets.
5 cents tax per round? Thats 50 bucks on 1,000 rounds!

I guess most Chicagoans get their ammo elsewhere.

Awesome.
That's it!

Radical leftists can get away with murder for this reason.

Some of the most transparent and least corrupt countries in the developed world have restrictions on firearms. Surprise, surprise....and their people actually want these laws, because they work! As evident by the fact America has one of the highest homicide rates in the developed world. Canada, Australia, Germany, England etc look at us and say....no thank you, but you can keep your guns.

Yep. It's 5 cents for each centerfire round and 1 cent for rimfire. Most people just get their ammo outside of Cook County or in Indiana.

The ammo and gun tax has really hurt local businesses. Cabela's has been thinking of moving across the county border because of the tax.

It's the same in Seattle, 5 cents a round for anything bigger than .22, 2 cents for anything smaller. The tax was supposed to raise between $300,000 to $500,000 a year, but the city refuses to say how much it brought in, only saying its less than 200,000, and gun dealers say only about $100,000. Dealers outside the city limits are doing great though...
