She looks like she is not all there. She needs to seek help. You have to be sick to do something like this.

The news story is a bit vague on these points.

They apparently were BF/GF and both had (unspecified) mental/emotional issues.

Free speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences of said speech.

I'm not saying this rulling is correct, per se (although, I do, personally, agree with it) - but it's something to keep in mind.

A suicide pact... Your a loon, CYA!

Oh baby... I'm miss you I'm gonna kill myself... Don't let me stop you...
Next day called 50 times: I'm gonna kill myself... Well then do it if it keeps you from bugging crying, whining and just plain harassing me.

BOOM!

Off to jail you go.

A lot missing from this story.

But, threats of suicide in a relationship (failing or otherwise) are signs of an abuser. It is manipulative emotional blackmail.

This verdict will probably be overturned.

I agree. Normally when a person reaches out like that over and over - they are wanting someone to talk them out of it. Not saying that was her job - but alerting the authorities or his parents would have been the right thing to do as opposed to egging him on.

But with all those texts she was sending and receiving on her phone - never an attempt to punch in 9-1-1?
