It's statistically likely that within the next four years we will have another recession. It could be a run of the mill cyclical recession like we saw in 2001, pushing unemployment up to around 8% but overall life will go on. Or it could be another 2008 or worse. Question is, what happens and how does Trump respond?

Both Bush and Obama were quick to offer bailouts to banks that, if they failed, could take large parts of the economy down with them. One of Obama's first acts was a stimulus package that, while criticized, was instrumental in softening the blow of that recession. A lot of people don't realize that 2008-09 could have been much, much worse than they were. Thankfully, Bush and Obama both did what was necessary to lessen the impact of that recession, though it still was catastrophic. It wasn't the total collapse it could have been.

However, what if something like that occurs under Trump? My guess is that Trump would do what the far-right was wishing for in 2008; nothing. Just let the house of cards collapse even if it means 25-30% unemployment and civil unrest. He might even worsen it by implementing new tariffs like Hoover did.

For this reason, I am hoping Trump isn't at the helm when the next recession happens, but chances are he will be.

I'm guessing denial. Screaming at the television when it's reported. Tweeting "Fake News!" Taking a picture with a coal miner and saying "See?! They love me!"

Don't worry. Trump will find a way to get rich even if everyone else is starving.

Or he'll blame it on the Democrats.

He might even blame it on the media.

If, by then, he's at war with the GOP congress at that point, he might blame them. We know he'll eventually turn on the GOP congress. When that will be is open for debate.

Trump will claim it is part of his plan to rid the country of illegal immigrants. Reducing cash flow will lower the hiring of illegals who will then self deport.

This is probably right. There always are denialists preceding every recession, even 2008, that focus on good economic numbers and downplay the bad. He will likely do that until it becomes undeniable. Then he will blame Obama, the media, and the Democrats while simultaneously taking a Hooveresque hands off stance. If Russia doesn't take him down, that will be what will and it will be in the form of a decisive defeat in 2020.

Your grasp on economics is absurd and has no merit. You listen to the exact same economists who never saw the biggest collapse since the Great Depression was coming. Bailouts didn't help the economy one bit. The stimulus package didn't do anything except extend the weak economy and hinder recovery.

Have someone explain to you the depression of the early 1920's and why we got out of it in 2 years. Not that you care about the truth.
