I'm so confused. I hear how illegals are keeping the wages down and then I hear how they can't be raised....and I'm confused....do you not want or do you want people to earn a decent living.

They are just parroting propaganda they are served. And the reason they do that is very straight forward in most cases. Reduction of poverty and despair in America feels like a threat to their own happiness as it is dependent on having someone to look down on. The bottom of the income scale should be large and in despair. It makes others feel good about themselves. These are true regressives and it is a very sizable chunk of the electorate unfortunately.

Neither. I opted to obtain an education, leaving McJobs behind, as we all should, after our teenage years.

NYC has a $15 minimum wage and tons of immigrants, legal and illegal, and we have such a good economy, there's close to zero unemployment. We have a big job shortage.

All those doom and gloom "raise the wages and people will lose their jobs" nonsense has been disproved. NYC is adding more than 100,000 jobs a year, mostly medium and high pay jobs.

The labor market will always consist of huge numbers at the bottom. Thats the case in every country, no exception. Everyone obtaining an education is not an option. And that obviously gets harder as educational opportunities are harder to come by. Serious people understand this. People who want to see the people at the bottom of the labor market suffer refuse to accept this because they want needless and sadistic pain and suffering to take place. This is the inconvenient truth sadly. And we all pay for this as a society, not only the individuals in question.

Wrong. The NYC minimum wage was raised to $15. There's a transition period, obviously.

The NYC economy is booming, and there's a jobs shortage. The city has the lowest unemployment in a half-century. How do you explain this?

So there is a significantly increased minimum wage in NYC, Seattle and California, and employment has actually increased in those areas after implementation. There is no reason to be against the wage increase unless you are Ebenezer Scrooge and inherently hate the poor.

Restaurants are very overrated, and there are probably too many of them
