If we get a constitutional convention we should propose a militia amendment. The militia is the people's army. Each state may for one militia that cannot be regulated by the federal government or the state government. The federal government may fund the militia as long as it funds each state militia equally. The militia is governed by the constitution only, with the following requirements: 1) the militia leader or governing body must be elected through a democratic process; 2) the militia must serve the people and the constitution above all else; and 3) the militia may not impose arbitrary requirements for membership.

Any attempt to regulate a militia is considered an act of war against every militia.

Mogadishu has a bunch of private military units outside the government.. It hasn't worked out very well for them.

So under your plan, the Muslim community could have their own private militia that the feds can't regulate?
Black Lives Matter could have unregulated militias too?
Also, the election of leaders by the democratic process would be three wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner. The guy with the biggest gun is voted captain.

Somehow I get the feeling that's not where you're going with this.

We already have enough guns, people killing each other for no reason and growing divisions. We should focus on healing these problems not exacerbating them.
