Ferguson attorney: Brown family settlement $1.5 million


The insurance company for the city of Ferguson, Missouri, paid $1.5 million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Michael Brown's parents, the city attorney said Friday.

That's really not a lot considering it was a loss of a young life.

OJ was ordered to pay 33 million in 1996 by comparison.

Malpractice suites often get more than 1.5 mil.

Not sure how any city or insurance company could be so stupid as to pay the family of a criminal that was shot in the act. That is the legal system for ya.........

Civil action with a lower burden of proof and a jury packed with people that either believe Brown was killed or are interested in sending a broader message or just want to give his family some insurance company money.

Dangerous case in terms of taking it to trial.

Most of the big dollar malpractice suits involve a person that survived that requires extensive costly future medical care.

For a death claim it's much harder to collect a lot.

Laquan McDonald's family got like 3-5million but I think the value was higher because it was hush money.
