The problem is today there are so many avenues for news to come out. CNN's investigative team didn't know who else had the sources. Had they waited to see how credible the story was, a Huff Post, NBC, ABC, CBS, or any number of liberal leaning news organizations and websites would post that article first instead. With the 24 hour news cycle and the ability to post news at any time, we live in a day and age when facts aren't as important. The right wing has no problem with using fake news with say Pizza-gate.

Speaking of airports, CNN International is far superior than the CNN we get here at home. But they aren't competing for ad revenue so filling a 24 hour news cycle with punditry isn't a concern.

It's kind of funny how in other western countries the news networks owned or funded by the governments are actually more independent than our private for profit networks. BBC, France 24, DW, are leagues better than CNN, MSNBC, Fox, etc.
