They also said it would result in thousands of deaths.

Good point.

Nursing home profits surge as owners seek moratorium

Nearly two-thirds of the state’s nursing homes are now participating in partnerships with county-owned hospitals that effectively double their profit margins.

Our local hospital has a nursing home in their old building next door. The nursing home makes a profit and the hospital loses money every year. If they were not one company, the hospital would probably close. Many of the rural ones have closed. Cutting Medicaid will close a bunch more.

The story of the ant and the grasshopper IS the story of the 1% living off the sweat and blood and tears of everyone else.

HINT: The 1% are the grasshoppers. The rest of us toil away.

Talk about clueless.

What Republicans never acknowledge is Medicaid pays for most nursing home care in this country. And seniors pay only about a third of the Medicare benefits they receive. All these tax cuts Republicans are crowing about, where 83% of the benefit is falling on the richest Americans including Trump, will result in dramatic cuts elsewhere. The $1.5 trillion Republicans added to the deficit - the same deficit they were so concerned about when Obama was in office, was a huge giveaway to the rich. As soon as Paul Ryan got his tax cuts, he decided to run away so he could avoid answering for the result.

Republicans have been chomping at the bit to get rid of Medicaid and Medicare. Then they will want to get their greedy hands on your social security. This is what most people wanted or they wouldn’t have voted for ALL Republicans. Not many Democrats to counteract them either. They love to go nuclear to exclude the Democrats. Hopefully the Democrats will make some inroads and when they are in office and don’t fritter it away. Do exactly like the Republicans and exclude them also.

This is why the country needs to split. Let red states end Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. And once those citizens give it up, make it so there's no going back. Let blue states continue with these programs. Same with abortion while we're at it. If Oklahoma wants to force births by making abortion unavailable after six weeks, let Oklahomans pay for the result. Create immigration laws that apply between red states and blue states so we don't have to deal with this anymore.

Louisiana recently announced it would be sending out notices to nearly 40,000 Medicaid recipients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities that they would no longer be getting Medicaid support.

After a bit of a scramble, they were able to find the money somewhere else in the budget and this was called off.

This is during good economic times. Imagine what will happen during the next economic downturn.

About 65% of Americans in nursing homes are supported by Medicaid. Thanks to longer lifespans and spiraling health care costs, this is unlikely to go down.

So what if you should become financially vulnerable and susceptible to the Medicaid program? Wouldn't you then appreciate the small contribution of others via taxation. That's how other advanced societies manage their healthcare systems....

It’s all good. Living on the streets will toughen them up. Self reliance is all that matters!
