I would love to see them repeal without replacing. It would be entertaining to watch the chaos and collapse of the health insurance market and industry. It is only a sixth of the economy so it probably would have no effect at all on the rest of the economy or the stock market.
Anarchy and chaos is the way to go with this mess in the WH.
Happy Fourth of July! Notice how every single lawmaker along with the president and his family all flee the capitol of the nation on its birthday?

True patriots.
the 4th is a family Holiday and their families live in what ever state they are from.
...
They have painted themselves into this corner and they have no way out. I would be enjoying this much more if I didn't have loved ones who will potentially die under their horrific plan.
I agree.
It is difficult to imagine a path in which corporations could continue to rake in the profits without subsidies and Republicans are not about subsidizing.
Without subsidies, insurance companies will not only be losing the customers on on plans they can no longer afford, but without the mandate the customer pool is weighted toward older, more expensive customers who are priced out of the market as well.
Republicans could repeal ACA, but this option seems like it could be political suicide, more Simon Legree than Saint Reagan really.
Quite simply Republicans do not have the votes for a straight repeal. Forget the 60 votes, even if they try reconciliation, they wouldn't have 50.
It was easy for many of them to vote for a straight repeal when it had no chance of happening. They could say they were against Obama care, but not deal with the repercussions of doing away with pre-existing conditions protections among others.
Now voting for a straight repeal, it would actually happen, so they would have to deal with those repercussions. Susan Collins is a already a No, and voted against the last straight repeal vote when Obama was President and would certainly be a no again. That leaves only one other no, and it would certainly be more.
If they want to keep their junk plans they can. Otherwise just repeal it. Other people's problems are not my problems.
What you say would be true if you pay $0 in taxes. Do you live completely tax free? Do you pay property, sales, and income tax? If you answered yes to any of those then you are paying for someone else's "problems". You are paying for someone else's education, healthcare, and welfare. I would suggest you learn to live with that. It's not going to change.
And I'll add... we keep increasing defense spending which defense always seems to have funding just like welfare programs.
DEFENSE spending is a Welfare program !
Why do we still have bases in Japan? Germany? Korea?
