Florida where most of my family is sends way more to washington than most states in tax revenue and still gets less back than it sends even with tons of veterans and bases and retirees.

Most federal money is miltary spending, certain states have more bases veterans, active duty, miltary research like in new mexico, and retirees receiving social security, even the part that is welfare spending is going to more blue counties and democrat voters in red states.

So go ahead, I am dying to hear how Texas is being "funded" by some small blue state? lol
Okay. I need to see these Florida stats. When I looked it up Florida was in bottom 5 for revenue sent vs received. That was 2014.

Please the so called fittest state in America is clinically obese with obesity rates in the 20's, in alot of asian nations and Scandinavian counties our fittest cities and state obesity rates would be a national cause for alarm. A place like japan has low single digits for obesity.

America is like a sumo culture, people here get excited over 20% obesity rates. lol

Ted: Japan? What's she doing in Japan?

Pat Healy: Well, you've heard of mail-order brides? Well, they go that way too.

Ted: What, are they desperate? She's a whale!

Pat Healy: You can't forget, it's a sumo culture, Ted. They pay by the pound over there. Sorta like, um, tuna.

Lol... All of the blue state's have blue metropolis' that are epicenters of culture, innovation, and investments. Wtf are Boise and Bismarck, let alone whatever Boondocks make up their surrounding area, doing to boost America?

It's like comparing a 10 y/o with a lemonade stand to their father's consulting firm.

I hate to be the barer of bad news but every red state down the middle of the Nation from border with Canada to and include Texas is facing major budget shortfalls over the next 12 months. You might want to research more before posting what I guess you consider "good news", we will not dwell on how you think it is good for the USA, I bet you consider yourself a Patriot

Well, there is a milder point to be made, which is that states that have been majority Democrat for long periods of time tend to have many of the same issues. California is a good example. The government takes in plenty of money, but the legislature is full of liberal Democrats, which means they haven't met a social program they didn't like, a bereaved minority they didn't feel sorry for, an environmental initiative they didn't adopt, or a tax hike they didn't agree with. So between high taxes and an unfriendly business climate, that's how you get a wealthy state that's always in financial trouble.

I live in California, and our state fiscal situation got better after the Republicans who would block everything lost power to obstruct the budget, and after Jerry Brown succeeded Arnold Schwartznegger. Sorry it doesn't fit your doomsday view of California.

Is it coincidence that you picked a strongly partisan source from which to bestow us all with your little pearls of wisdom? Your chart was put out by the The Mercatus Center which was founded by Rich Fink who headed the Koch Industries’ lobbying in Washington as of 2010. (You gotta love a name like "Rich Fink" - some of this stuff you couldn't make up if you tried). After the Koch family gave more than $30 million to George Mason University, the Center moved there in the mid-1980s. Koch Industries and ExxonMobile are its two heaviest donors. For those who only watch Fox which probably doesn't discuss the Koch brothers - the Kochs are members of that fabled upper 1% and have spent their life times pouring money into Congress in order to get their own personal trillionaire's agenda put into practice. Needless to say, they have no love for blue states and feel the only purpose of government is to maintain a large - very large military force to protect their international business concerns.

What you should be asking if you'd bother to look at anything besides Fox and Breitbart: "Is it coincidence that blue states generated a massive 64 percent of America’s economic activity while red states generated just 36 percent of the country’s output—just a little more than one-third of the nation’s economic activity"?
Read more from the nonpartisan Brookings Institution.

Not a coincidence, as they grew government too large, with outrageous legacy costs for their kings and queens, a/k/a state employee unions.

And even for a biased source it still can't hide the fact that those balanced-budget red states are probably the second worst collection of states for economic activity, culture, and innovation. Who has ever referred to the collective of Nebraska, Montana, Iowa, and Iowa as an economic powerhouse? The only collective worse? Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas. The only thing these states are leading choices for is "worst region for your car to break down in."
