Doesn't matter. She is FLOTUS, the Communications Director is her official spokesperson, Melania owns the statement. It is on her until/unless she disclaims it. Period.

(I say this as someone who is sympathetic to her overall plight but she is an adult who has choices.)

I almost felt a little sorry for, Sarah Huckabee Sanders today. She looked like she was going to cry at one point, it looked very painful and uncomfortable for her up there defending Trumps tweets. She sure looked like she would have rather be somewhere else today.

It is the new Presidential. Get use to it.
There's no legal restraints on the president, I assure you. The voters and the Congress have the right to deal with the president in any way they want, as constrained by the law and the Constitution. If "we the people" want to vote for or against a president based on style instead of substance, we have the constitutional right to do so. That includes style of speech.

"New Presidential" is an Appeal to Novelty - confusing actually true / right with merely new. By that standard, Communism is more advanced than Democracy (Marx came after Jefferson, Hamilton, Franklin, etc), and Naziism more advanced than either of those two (Hitler, and Herbert Spencer's social Darwinism, the seedcorn of Nat. Socialism, came after Marx). See my point?

Finally, if you'll allow a very off-topic side note -- I would NEVER want anyone to take a bullet to protect MY "right" to verbally abuse, for that implies that abuse is a necessary part of communicating ideas vital for society to know. It also implies that the "weak", "sensitive", etc. deserve are worthy of any degradation they get simply for being "weak", "sensitive", etc alone - and the psychological injuries chronic abuse tends to cause. That is NOT what I consider a value worth defending to the death.

True, very true.

I am offended by your assertion I am dropping to the level of POTUS and FLOTUS by calling them PIGS for his personal attack tweets and HER defense of them. They are indeed the bottom of the barrel and calling them out for that is not sinking to their level. It is being honest. It is what more GOP leaders need to do....stop saying they are 'disappointed' or 'wish he didn't say that"......they need to call these people what they are.

Bill Kristol did in his tweet:

If that is all you got out of my post, you 're a prime example why some don't take you and your party as mature or seriously.
And looking for right around every corner.

BINGO.

It was obvious from the get-go that this is about something bigger than Ms. Brzezinski.
She's a convenient scapegoat for his latest self-inflicted humiliation - and as usual he picked on the woman in the pair, she represents all the women he fears and despises.

I think someone needs to get the president some serious mental testing because something is very very wrong.

Bill Kristol did in his tweet:
Good for him. POTS deserves it based on his actions. FLOTUS however is defending her husband, and not worthy of that level of disrespect.

But really...condemn the man, don't act like him.
