Capitalists and Free Marketers should be applauding.

If your 1000 sq ft ranch house burns down should you get a Mansion from the insurance company?

No amount of insurance can make up for multi-million dollar operations. After all, the companies are not in business for the fun of it. They must make a profit.

And if services are not limited, they cannot.

I feel personally that there will be some point where I will ask for the assisted ending....and gladly take it over society spending millions to extend my pain and low quality of life.

Capitalism. Remember.

Yes, I read that.

Did you read the part about how the OHP did not think that drug would help her and cited the evidence for their decision? (And in fact, it didn't help her.)

And my question remains - do you want to pay even more than you are paying now? We all talk about cost control as being an issue in health care costs. Not paying for questionable treatment is a part of that. Whether it's your insurance company or medicaid, the issue is the same.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement - We (taxpayers and/or insurance consumers) CANNOT afford to pay for every treatment that anyone might want - therefore we decline to pay for treatments that the evidence shows is not likely to help.

FYI, this not theoretical to me. In a previous life, I was a nurse and worked in both intensive care units and nursing homes. Believe me when I tell you that modern medicine can keep a person alive too long.

I was also seriously ill myself 40 years ago. The decisions I made then about my care, I would not necessarily make today. Because my survival odds have changed, and that is just reality.

Insurance companies denied treatment to patients, offered to pay for assisted suicide, doctor claims - Washington Times

I believe the doctor has no reason to make a false claim. Of course nothing is in writing because that would be illegal. I have first hand experience at hospitals doing this, but for insurance companies to promote death over money?

These companies are fk'd up doing this! They have reached a new unconscionable low.
And why shouldn't they. Ask the patient what they want. Stop trying to save 90 year olds with expensive treatments when they just want to die.

Funny how quick the right is to believe unnamed sources when they say something the right agrees with. The doctor quoted in the piece has zero proof to offer, just a bs claim designed to inflame the gullible.
