There were a few competent Republicans but they didn't get a lot of support. I am thinking about people like Kasich and Rubio. On the Democratic side, Joe Biden was the answer but he didn't run. Bernie was too far left and Hillary was doomed from the start because of her corruption.

Do you think this election cycle was a fluke or do you think we are getting to a point where competent, qualified people don't even want the job anymore?
THAT

Maybe this is preparation for making the antichrist look desirable as a leader. Our choices this past election were so bizarre that it makes one wonder WTF is going on. Pass over acceptable candidates and force the country to choose between Hillary or Trump??????

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with this. She's not a child, but she has never really been to Mexico. Her whole life has been spent here in the US. It won't make any difference to you whether she stays or goes. She's been here at least 35 years.

But the starker picture is this, only about 58% of eligible voters voted in 2016, of that, about 5% voted for other non GOP or democrat parties, so in the balance, Trump was elected by about 25% of the voters. The 42% who sat it out may be a sleeping giant, hurt them badly enough and some of them will react. Typically, elections have been close, tip that by a few percentage points and you can win. Whoever runs, democrat, republican, or other, would be wise to appeal to the disenfranchised voter. I think running for president should be a duty to country, just as a soldier wants to serve their country, they don't necessarily want to go to war. So I don't really trust anyone who actually wants the job, I'd rather hear that it's a job that needs to be done.
