Though I'm 60 everytime I look in the mirror i see a good looking guy staring back...
Let me see if I have this right.
Two guys in their 60's, both doing just fine. We both pay our taxes, open doors for others, and in general are assets to the community. But it is discovered that one them derives benefits from the usage of cannabis.
Then one looks at the other and says "You smoke marijuana? Off to prison you go!"
I think it is clear who the real criminal is in that scenario.
Secondly, it's not collapsing because of liberty. In my opinion, if someone wants to blow their minds out with pot, or meth, or heroin, that's their business, assuming they are held responsible for the consequences of their behavior.
America is collapsing because of fanaticism and zealotry. Somewhere along the line, most people in the US came to believe that their opinions and Utopian ideals should be legislated and forced upon everyone else (Obamacare ,for instance). Now their chickens have come home to roost. They have found that when you kick someone else in the balls, you may get kicked back. Too bad for them.
What if I don't accept the premise that America is collapsing in the first place?
We may be living in one of the most testing times in our history, but I am generally optimistic. The system was designed to survive. It's been through worse, technically.
And let's say it is collapsing, I'm pretty sure weed (and all those leftist Libertarians who support it...) is pretty low on the list of causes, if it even makes the list.
The US will collapse because we have an administration that is making a new War on Drugs a priority over the myriad of other crime and problems in the country. The War on Drugs was a publicity stunt from the start and most certainly has failed miserably.
So resurrecting it and using millions of resources to make criminals out of weed smokers and stuff them into our already overcrowded prisons is nothing short of idiotic.
And by the way, you are fooling yourself in a big way if you think those on the right do not smoke weed or support its legalization. Sixty percent of the country is in favor of it. So unless you agree that sixty percent of the country is the 'left,' your premise is totally false.
Only in the mind of a twisted progressive would freedom be considered bad and more government good when no ones rights have been violated. Yea, I know, here we go again with defending the rights of the individual.
