So the New York Times had this email chain, and asked Don Jr. for comment before publishing, which is why he released it first to try and get ahead of the NYT, probably not realizing how incriminating the statements in the emails were.

There was no conspiracy. Russia is NOT our enemy. It's that kind of thinking that we need to crush. You ****ing war mongers need beat back badly.
Russia is our competitor. One of our competitors for resources and influence in the world. They certainly were willing to do many things in order to get Trump elected. Even engage in a conspiracy. Your knee-jerk defense isn't rational.
James Clapper went before Congress and lied under oath. He even admitted to it. That was criminal. What happened because of that perjury? Someone felt compelled to release the truth. That truth embarrassed the Obama administration and Russia helped block their desire for revenge and that along with Putin slapping Obama down on Syria is what the whole "Russia" thing is about.
Why wasn't Clapper charged with actual perjury but we expect someone who lies in general to get charged?
Because Clapper wasn't working with a foreign govenrmnet against the U.S.? I dunno - Why don't you educate us?
It's insane. Flat out proof, with Don Jr. saying he'd love to get Russian government info on Clinton to help his dad win the election. This is the direct evidence Trump supporters have been asking for constantly, and now that we have it, they're like, "Oh, well it's no big deal."
What else are they going to say? They've spent the last 18 months defending the guy's every word and action and treating him like the second coming of Jesus Christ. It's going to be difficult, if not impossible, to get them to admit they were wrong about him. If Trump and his administration go down for this- and there is no reason to believe at this point that they'll walk away from it just fine- I suspect that most of his supporters will continue to support him and just become bitter in the belief that a good man who was just trying to save the country was destroyed by liberals and a corrupt media conspiracy. They are never going to see Trump for who he really is.
