I like Mrs. Trump as First Lady and beyond being First Lady, I see no reason for her to try to be anything else. She has many qualities that makes her good at the job. I am glad we finally have a president whose family is patriotic and not into drugs.
Melania is arm candy for Donald. She doesn't act like she has much of a life aside from being Donald Trump's wife. And her cyberbullying campaign is a big fail if its lack of effectiveness on even her own husband's behavior is any indication.
I like Melania, and feel sorry for her at the same time. But as far as how she will be remembered, she has not done anything at all so far, and it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon. Other FL went out on the road, gave speeches, had serious causes, and worked hard. Melania simply shows up occasionally and stands next to Trump.
Like I said, I like her, but she really doesn't seem like she is fully engaged in this gig.
Absolutely true. But thus far she always seems to be in the shadows of Donald, unlike others as recent as Michelle Obama who seemed to be separate from Barrack and doing so much on her own.
Yup.
Michelle was an unusually strong activist as First Lady, but she reminded me of some others in the past. Lady Bird Johnson, Betty Ford, and some others from both parties were all strong women who actively promoted the causes they took up.
but I disagree with the notion that Michelle was separate from her husband. The Obamas were, and remain, a very tight and devoted couple, and have been since thei beginnings of their marriage. The Bushes, both of them, have similar marriages, as have many other Presidential couples of the past.
Melania has pretty obviously chosen to follow the other path, where the First Lady stays in the background and acts as First Hostess. It's something that I think she's becoming more at ease with, and it is an important job.
I think she was nervous about assuming that position, and certainly never wanted it nor gave it very much thought, but I think she's becoming more comfortable in the role, and is doing a pretty good job of it lately.
Melania is an intelligent woman, I believe, and if she's a bit stiff and shy, that's no big deal. Lots of former First Ladies were like her. History remembers them all, of course; after all, there have only been about 46 of them in total, so they are a small and select group of women.
I think it's far too soon to say anything about how history will remember her. But the chances of her being remembered more fondly than her husband are pretty good; that's true with almost all of the wives of our controversial Presidents of the past.
For good reason. First Ladies seldom want the job, but it does offer them ways to rise to prominence that were never allowed them in their other lives. Some take advantage of that, some don't.
Just being a good supportive wife is good enough for the rest of us, I think.
Obama never associated with anyone from the congress. The most secret kind of guy who gave the same speech over and over without saying anything. Obama would say one thing and do the opposite. The biggest windbag in modern history.
8 years full of well written speeches beautifully delivered, but nothing to show for. It will be many years before another AA will make it to the White House.

I didn't mean this in the context of saying being separate. Instead I should have said they are a strong couple and each allows the other space to do the things they are capable of. Michelle didn't interfere with Barrack, and Barrack was supportive of Michelle's activities.
Maybe I need to rephrase it. Or did everyone forget Hillary was FLOTUS too.
Melania, sure beats Hillary.
Just admit it and move on. This isn't the first time that you wrote what you did, then edited and pretended you had said Hillary all along when called on it.
