As usual, Pew's latest release has some interesting points; this time on how partisanship affects how we view the following:
Overall Sample:
Churches:
Overall: 59% view as a positive, 26% as a negative for +33% overall.
Republican only: +73%/-14% (overall +59%)
Democrats only: +50%/-36% (overall +14%)
Banks/Financial Institutions:
Overall: +39%/-46% (-7%)
Republican only: +46%/-37% (+9%)
Democrats only: +33%/-54% (-21%)
Labor Unions:
Overall: +47%/-32% (+15%)
Republican only: +33%/-46% (-13%)
Democrat only: +59%/-22% (+37%)
National News Media:
Overall: +28%/-63% (-35%)
Republican only: +10%/-85% (-75%)
Democrat only: +44%/-46% (-2%)
Colleges and Universities
Overall: +55%, -36% (overall +19%)
Republican only: +36%/-58% (overall -22%)
Democrats only: +72%/-19% (overall +53%)
Surprises for me would be how negative as a whole that D's are regarding financial institutions (probably the anti-Wall Street populists) and how negative R"s have become on colleges. The near unanimity of R's on national news orgs is I guess to be unexpected. The -2% by D's on national news is a little surprising, although I'd guess that D's and R's are probably focusing their negativity on different media sources.
