Classic case--you are unable to respond to the main topic (racism of left/media), so you pick out some side point to harp on.

But what would you suggest police do when someone is advancing on them, holding two knives, and comes within 3 feet? A quick thrust to the throat, and one of the cops is dead. Don't they have the right to defend their life like anyone else?

They have tons of training, one of which is taking people down with knives. The other is, theres multiple cops in the situation against one knife wielder. They can take him down. They also have tasers. They are trained to use all of these tactics. The gun is not the only viable option. Unless you enjoy seeing people get killed.

Makes you wonder how long liberals can stay in denial about their pet demographic being a hopeless basket case:

In the NYPD the safe zone for knives is 21 feet. Anything less than that lethal force is perfectly acceptable. How about this in over 20 years as a cop I was never once trained to take someone down with a knife. At least in the NYPD your above statement is incorrect.

There was the police video of that white spoiled obnoxious brat Logan girl who finally got arrested by a cop who ran out of patience after her intolerable display of stupidity. Somebody made the very correct observation that had she been a man, black or white, she would have been taken down almost immediately and possibly even shot. I guess the level of police force used largely depends on the threat the officer feels the perpetrator is capable of.
Now another case that's been overlooked is the Australian woman who was shot in Minneapolis. I'd like to know why no badge cams were used and why the MSM doesn't promote a story unless there's racial undertones. Yes, we know the MSM sucks but they'll only get better if we constantly berate them and demand more professionalism from them.

Man with knife shot by Washington state trooper on I-5 | The Seattle Times

Credit to Seattle radio hosts John Carlson and Kirby Wilbur for pointing this out.

There have been two remarkably similar shootings in the Seattle area recently. In one case, a 30 year old black woman with a history of mental illness called police to her apartment, falsely reporting a burglary. When police arrived, she greeted them with an epithet, and was holding two knives. Police repeatedly ordered her to drop the knives; she didn't, and advanced on them. They had no choice but to shoot.

Local media blew up over the story, and it went national. Both the NY Times and Washington Post covered it. In virtually every story there was mention of the woman's race (black) and the race of the officers (both white).

In another incident, a man called 911 and said that he had a weapon, would be driving erratically and speeding, and he wanted to attack an officer. When state troopers pulled him over, he got out and advanced on them with a knife. Again, police had no choice but to shoot him.

This story has thus far been covered quite differently. There was no mention of either the man's race, or of race of the troopers. Presumably that means that both were white. There have been no vigils, no accusations of 'murder,' and little national coverage.

If the media and left treat two similar cases so differently, solely based on the skin color of those involved, does that make them racist? I say that it does.
First, you need to start with your working definition of "Racist". Based upon the OFFICIAL definition of racism......no......the different way it was reported and amplified does not meet the criteria.

The media focuses on TRENDS, like American society. It is trend and ratings driven. Hence, the story of white police officers shooting blacks has been a popular story trend for ratings. That story gets more rating than a white officer killing a white person.....frankly because white people do not make a stink about it. Black people make a stink about it because it feels like the pain they had from the heart attack of racial oppression. Slight chest pains are usually dismissed as indigestion for people who never had a history of heart problems. However, slight chest pains for those who have had heart problems are going to be more frightening and lead to more trips to the ER or doctor to make sure that they are not having a heart attack again.

That is what people seek to ignore about black people in America. We have a history of PAIN that was devastating to our health, metaphorically speaking. Hence, we are more jumpy, as any group of humans would be with a history of such pain in this nation, when we feel pains like those from the past. Yes, a lot of times, if not most times, it might be a false alarm.....but what do you expect? Its simply human to fear what has attacked you in the past. Obviously if a group of people have not experienced that level of attack and pain.....then they will not jump to conclusions born from a fear of the pain returning, like those who have.

I'm a 67 year old man. If someone comes at me with a knife I'll open fire. Now, if I was a 30 year old cop with a Kevlar vest, maybe a riot shield, taser, pepper spray, baton, maybe a beanbag shotgun, backup partner, etc., etc., and the person with the knife was a little tiny woman with mental problems, I like to think that I would try to resolve the situation without using deadly force.
