Professional Welfare shoppers know that New Jersey rolls out the red carpet for them. The state is known nationwide for high taxes and socialist redistribution, especially with it's schools.

Supposedly, New Jersey confiscates money from middle-class and rich areas property taxes and gives it to poor schools in Trenton and Camden so the parents in those towns can use it as free child-care.
Illegals keep having more kids to get more... while Americans who struggle won't have kids because they can't afford to have them. Something is wrong here.

Who is employing illegal workers en mass and paying them under the table?

Why it's good ole small business Americans and heads of households.

Illegal immigration became a tidal wave in the 80's and peaked with the housing bubble. Who built all those spiff new homes during the housing bubble?

Doing nothing for 30+ years is no accident. It has not mattered who sat the oval or held the majority.

I remember years ago, a town in Pa. passed a law you couldn't rent to any illegals in this town.. Obama said it was unconstitutional , siding with the illegals having what rights under our Constitution. They don't fall under our Constitution!

Obama fought against states rights in other states.. Governor Brewer always said.. Mr. President do your job.. meaning Obama needed to uphold the laws of the land. We were invaded by illegals and Obama wanted the illegals to vote and keep in power.

Today they want to look at the voting roles of states... to see how many illegals are actually voting.. they don't want to give out that information. This is one messed up country. Laws should be upheld but we had Obama and Bill Clinton putting illegals before Americans rights. Bush was just as bad ... he did nothing at all! Of course his brother Jeb married an illegal border crosser.

The powers that be say about 50% of the construction workers in Texas are not documented and are paid under the table.

That is why the state has always rejected licensing contractors. Plumbers and electricians yes.

They did pass a law saying all plumbing and electrical work had to be done by licensed contractors. They made no provision for permits or inspections.

How can you verify income when people are paid in cash?

I know women who keep their verifiable pay just where it needs to be to get services. The do not marry so no joint income tax filing. There is no way for anybody to know the household income.

What we save on housing cost is paid out in services.

My beef is that nobody in the statehouse or DC gives a damn.

Will this trend continue to increase? If so at what rate and what will be the factors?

I think it will increase and probably at an accelerated rate. Factors will be increased urbanization and increased low educated and low skilled immigrants, although at the moment I believe illegal immigration and legal immigration has sharply declined but that is because of Trump's administration. Eventually a Democrat administration will be in power the tide shall shift back towards more immigration. Also I believe it is the poor Americans who will have more babies than the wealthy Americans, so that segment of the population will continue to make up a greater proportion of society. Also the shame and guilt of government assistance is greatly reduced with technology and normalization. EBT cards put away the visual shame of food stamps and people seem to almost enjoy living off assistance vs having the urge to climb out of it.

For conservatives who like history, I recommend reading up on Roman grain laws. As the Roman Empire was almost at the peak of it's power(so before it hit the climax by maybe 100-200 years) the progressive politicians of Rome pushed hard for free food for the urban poor. The conservatives were painted as evil greedy selfish elites who hated the poor while the progressives were painted as the loving thoughtful politicians. Well if you know Roman history we all know how that turned into. A huge segment of the population that contributed nothing towards society but could be rallied as a mob in an instant. Oh and it was the progressives who loved the Germanic immigrants with open arms lol that turned out great as well. "We can trust the Germans! Put that into important offices and let them integrate into our society!"

The super funny thing is, it isn't like the poor don't have enough food, if anything looking at obesity rates and just looking with your eyes....they have too much LOL. Instead of poor people dying from starvation we are pushing them to death with large amounts of free unhealthy food. LOL this is madness!

They should have the parents do community service to pay for their kids school breakfasts and lunches. I think 5 hours a week is good because then they could serve the kids a very nice breakfast, lunch and after-school meal while the parents do community service.

Many of the EBT with kids demographic denies their kids meals all the time. I worked at a grocery store and the many times these women have 3 or 4 kids already and they usually prefer parolee partners who can live with them on section 8. The women tend to buy some very expensive steak, lobster and expensive top-of-the line bakery deserts so they can keep the men that live with in. The rest of the order always tended to be ramen, 99 cent generic sugary cereal, saltines, cookies and chips.

A whole new generation born that won't be able to pay the bills of the retirees Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid because they are giving tremendous amounts of welfare for these women to have more and more babies.
What "massive welfare payouts?"
What surge in babies born to poor women?

Seriously - if you can claim this, you can prove it, otherwise I call BS.

Millions of those receiving benefits WORK. That's right - they WORK.
Your apocrypha and propaganda are worth spit.

"The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ( or SNAP, formerly called food stamps) helps millions of low-wage workers put food on the table. That's right – workers. You wouldn't know it from conservative critics' claims that SNAP has a debilitating effect on participants' work effort, but SNAP benefits are designed to support work, and the typical non-elderly, non-disabled SNAP participant is no stranger to work."

https://www.usnews.com/opinion/econo...ents-dont-work

"Increasingly, SNAP is serving a larger share of households where one or more members are employed. Between fiscal 1989 and 2015, the share of SNAP households with earnings rose from 19.6 percent to 31.8 percent. In contrast, the percent of those receiving cash welfare (AFDC/TANF) declined from 41.9 percent to 5.8 percent over the same period."

US: SNAP increasingly serves the working poor

I brought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to school. Or bologna and cheese... I survived. We didn't have lunch programs. We could buy a cookie from a large box of cookies the teacher had in the class room for a penny. We paid 3 cents for a small 6 0z box of milk if we had the 3 cents. This was in the 50's. No freebees and it was a blue collar working class town with hard working people. No slackers.

High school I bought a sandwich and milk for a quarter.

Seems like a reasonable and effective solution. And the affected can continue with their recreational activities (cited in another post above) - there just won't be any product for the rest of us to pay for.
We don't have the jobs to support your idea. Thus poverty would not plummet. Instead, crime would skyrocket to levels that would probably destabilize our entire way of life. Your idea is worse than foolish; it's dangerous.

Free and reduced lunches helping truly poor kids who otherwise would go hungry is a small percent of those receiving it.

I served as an elected school board member in the 90's ( Clinton years)

You got more govt aid $$$$$$$$$$ if you had a higher percent of students on free or reduced lunch.
We were not inner city, but a rural farming community.
We had few kids on free and reduced because most rural people thought feeding their kids was a parents' responsibility.

One day our Supt came to the conclusion that many rural parents were paying for their kids' lunch when they were eligible for free or reduced and thus our district was losing govt aid $$$$.

He urged parents who had pride to fill out the paperwork, become eligible, but continue to pay for their kids' lunch so we could get more govt aid $$$$$$$$.

Many , like myself, refused to " play that game" and felt as long as we were paying for our kids' lunch it is none of the school's business what our net income was.

Again, go back and re-read my first paragraph !
