While Republicans dangerously exacerbate Climate Change, people along the coast are loosing their homes and livelihoods. Sad how some exacerbate the destruction of Earth and condemn our children to a scorched earth.

In January, the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced grants totaling $1 billion in 13 states to help communities adapt to climate change, by building stronger levees, dams and drainage systems.

One of those grants, $48 million for Isle de Jean Charles, is something new: the first allocation of federal tax dollars to move an entire community struggling with the impacts of climate change.

The problem faced by this village isn't rising sea levels, but subsidence, i.e., the land is sinking. This process has been occurring in various areas of the Gulf Coast for decades.

It wouldn't make any difference what "climate change" legislation was passed, or how many carbon credits were sold, or how many methane trap devices were affixed to the rear ends of cattle.

The land is sinking because of the withdrawal of subsurface fluids (water and oil, primarily.) Real scientists who study the earth and its processes know this.

Fake scientists, such as those calling themselves "climate scientists," do not.

The coast changes. It's been changing for millions of years before humans got here. Small, erodable islands like this are particularly ethereal in this regard. Heck, even bedrock islands get eroded down eventually.

The OP thinks this is just great that the U S would re settle climate change refugees and spend 48 million.

One of those grants, $48 million for Isle de Jean Charles, is something new: the first allocation of federal tax dollars to move an entire community struggling with the impacts of climate change.

Then later in the story that 48m moves a whopping somewhere around 60 people. What a scam, even one of the Indian Chiefs knows it he wants the relocation spot to have a roaming buffalo.

I wonder if the OP thinks that 48m to move maybe 60 people is good use of tax payer money?

I never said that, and don't put words in my mouth.

Around the globe, governments are confronting the reality that as human-caused climate change warms the planet, rising sea levels, stronger storms, increased flooding, harsher droughts and dwindling freshwater supplies could drive the world’s most vulnerable people from their homes.

Or it could be all bull.......I always shake my head at how these are worded. The fields could turn to licorice also.
