" Conservatives will not come up with a better healthcare replacement - not now, not ever "

You are correct about this. Caring for people is not in the Republican kitbag.

The primary effort here is a massive tax break for the rich. Some Republicans of a more practical bent are trying to hurt and antagonize the least number of voters they can in the process (it is for the votes ... not the people themselves), and the purists among them are going for a straight out repeal (damn the votes and the people behind them). The goal for all is the same.

It is not health care reform bill, it is a tax reduction bill for the 1%.

They LIED to Donald Trump and they LIED to the American public.
Trump said he had a plan.

“I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now."

And to think this man ran on the premiss that he is not your typical politician who just makes promises and that he will "drain the swamp" in DC.......

How this man, as an ELITE himself, claiming he was an outsider although he frequent almost every big social gathering the white house threw, although he had relationships (business or otherwise) with all the DC big players, got away pretending he was one of the "common" people I will never know.
