The olympics are a drain on every city that host them.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...le-investment/

It's gotten so bad that so many cities withdraw their bids, the IOC is awarding 2024 and 2028 summer games to the two remaining 2024 bidders. They're legitimately afraid that no city will bid for 2028, and want to lock it in now.
IOC decides it can award two Summer Olympics simultaneously - CBS News

It's time to consider designating a permanent host site and having all participating countries contribute to the upkeep.

The Olympics are nothing more than a transfer of local wealth to international con men.

Frank, if we exempted you from ever paying federal income taxes again, would you be happy? Keep in mind that you would never be able to utilize taxpayer funded utilitiy connections, hwy roads, or emergency services ever again? No Medicare either, Unless you paid as you went? Just pay for what you use, including public education, highways, clean water, military protection, and emergency responder services? Also environmental protection, and any money spent prosecuting or defending people accused of a crime, no matter how minor or heinous?

It's all about your tax dollars? And your usual stance on that any kind of tax is theft?

So whats this have to do with the olympics being an international con job that leaves the taxpayers of host cities with unpaid bills and a bunch of trash to clean up?

It's entirely Brazil's problem that they aren't making effective use of their post-Rio assets. It's not the IOC's responsibility to manage these properties long after the Games are completed.

They were charging around $700,000 for the dorms. The construction company modified them after the Olympics but not clear why they are not selling, do they have access to transportation, shopping, etc.

That is just on problem, several of the other stadiums are vacant and have been vandalized. Some of these sit in the middle of nowhere and have no buyers. The shame is that poor people were kicked out of their homes for stadiums, construction. All this expense in a city where 50% of it's sewage is untreated, talk about getting your priorities in order.

They aren't the only host city that wasted money, Germany, Yugoslavia, Greece
