I simply have the saying running through my head.....that one may die so many can live.
Well..that was unkind..clever..but unkind. Also probably untrue...but this is not the thread for this.
I have this saying running through MY head...that one so bereft of humanity that he/she cannot appreciate the gravity of confronting one's mortality--so lost to common human decency that he/she must take the opportunity provided by the announcement of someone's death--and try to score some political point...that this person should be served the same when their time comes..alone..with someone waiting in the wings, impatient for them to be gone..so that they may advance their agenda.
Sad news, so can we leave partisan politics aside for the moment?
Although I disagree with Senator McCain on many issues I wish him the best and prayers to him and his family.
One of the few Conservatives in Congress I respect. I wish him Godspeed. The man has stood up for his country time and time again in war, public service and private life.
For those that wish him ill- to Hell with you. You are precisely why a lot of us left the GOP. You are detestable b*stards that would eat their own young to further an agenda.

This tweet includes the statement from his office. Obviously a brain tumor is never a minor thing, but it sounds better (treatable) than it could be. As already said, I don't always agree with him but I certainly hope that he responds well to the treatment and has a full recovery.
I think McCain likes to have extra special status in the senate. He seems like he has been one of the last holdouts on things like the health care bill and remember some other instances too. But he usually ends up going with the GOP flow.
I agree not much will change. I first assumed there would be a special election and that might be very interesting.
There would be a special election should he resign or not complete his term. Arizona is the only state that does not follow the 17th Amendment and does not allow temporary senate appointments. Too early for all that though.
Clearly, a lack of empathy spans the political spectrum. But reassuring that the vast majority can set aside partisan politics in favor of simple humanity.
