Could easily give the population a reasonable period of time to align their caloric intake with their expenditure and then go for it.

Everyone would have the freedom to take personal responsibility or not. Those who choose not to take personal responsibility pay for their healthcare or do without.
I agree 100%.

Please cite your source which states that getting free food benefits for 6, 9, or more meals per day per person instead of 3 meals per pay doesn't result in obesity.
correlation =/= causation.

Eliminate the correlation source. Stop overfeeding the poor. Stop ruining their health. Stop letting them collect on multiple means-tested free food programs for the exact same daily meals.

59% are on two or more means-tested free food programs for the exact same daily meals. You really don't recognize the problem with that?

Also, I would have never gone on Medicare if I had a choice but the government will fine you if you don't. Another nice idea they have to control us. Plus I also need supplement insurance as well.
You percieve " everyone wants to stay well now so they don't need to go to the doctor" because you notice all kinds of health food and vitamin stores opening up
in your city? Guess you never noticed the bakery within Whole Foods.

If everyone wanted to stay healthy, 75% of adults would not be overweight/ obese. The obesity rate would not have quadrupled since 1960.

My husband is 70 and continues to work full time. He never enrolled in Medicare and will not incurr a penalty when he does because he has been continuously insured. He was however, automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A when he turned 70 and began taking his SS benefit.

No idea why your doctor bills have gone up since you chose to enroll in Medicare. Perhaps you utilize more and/ or different services than you once did or your doctors increased their fees or something else.

That's absolutely insane!
The obesity rate has steadily been increasing to the point of quadrupling since 1960.

POTUS is the face of of US obesity. Those extra long, made anywhere but the US, ties he wears are gimmicks to create a vertical and minimize his girth. 75% of the adult population can relate.

Some people seem to prefer to deflect the obesity epidemic by focusing on the obesity rate of those on the SNAP program instead of the overall population. Interestingly, some of are the same people who criticized the federal government for requiring schools to adhere to nutritional requirements and cut the empty calories.

Congress could eliminate eligibility of non- nutritional food from the SNAP program any time they choose to do so. They choose to put the interests of big corn, big farm and big grocer before the interests of the people. It's as bipartisan as it gets.

Therefore, having food stamps only slightly increases the likelihood of obesity. It's an illogical and classist conclusion that people are obese bc you're giving them free food.
Oftentimes those who choose to deflect, focus on the obesity rate of those who recieve SNAP benefits. They are often the same who criticize government for imposing nutritional requirements on school meal programs that offer no or low cost meals to tens of millions of children.

No Congress, regardless of majority, is going to eliminate SNAP or school meal programs.

People's choices cause obesity.

No one is forced to consume empty calories. ( Drinking a soda pop as I key this)

No shortage of posters to this forum who sharply criticize federal government for imposing nutritional guidelines on school districts that choose to accept federal subsidies for school meal programs.

Again, no Congress is going to eliminate SNAP or subsidized school meal programs, no matter which party holds the majority.
