Far-right group for young conservatives.

For those who want this, here you are.

Had a brief chat with Trump and his staff about the importance of being non-political. Then have him finish his speech, complete with more sound glitches if he couldn't stay on track.

Barring that, they could have immediately put out a strong statement about how they regret the unfortunate political speech and encourage Scout leaders to discuss with their troops the importance of being non-partisan.

Of course, that would never happen because the BSA President wants team Trump to approve a merger for his company.
Why would they turn off the sound? Above all else, the Boy Scouts want their members to get along with each other. They're not going to insult their president to his face like that. These are just ordinary parents leading this organization. They're not some McDonald's-hired "look improvers." None of them were going to feel like they had the authority to shut off their President's speech. That's insane, so far as I can see. The leaders cheering and booing were ordinary parents.

What happened was 100% caused by Trump's ass-ishness and the Boy Scouts should have none of the blame whatsoever. They just happen to have Trump supporters who behave just like any supporters of their president behave when they like something their president says.

If the Scouts had not booed and cheered, the story would be that Trump tried his usual BS on the Scouts and they ignored it.

Instead, Boy Scouts look like Trump minions who show up at his rallies and chant, "Lock her up," when she hasn't even been charged with a crime, and carry on like nitwits when he accuses Obama of wiretapping him, or any of the other lies, insults, and accusations he babbles on about.

Had the Scouts and their leaders behaved honorably, according to their code of conduct, this would have already blown over.
I agree with your point, the Scouts and their leaders acted very poorly, but you refuse to accept the fact that they should never have had to make the choice of how to react!!!!

And I agree with the poster below, they just kids for Gods sake and shouldn't shoulder the blame, ever read Lord of the Flies?

Trump has ruined the BSA and he left BSA holding the bags just as he did with his failed Atlantic City casinos.
Theodore Roosevelt wasn't the founder of BSA.

And no offense but this sounds a bit overly dramatic. Remember these are just kids- they responded like most kids would. I don't like it, but 42 years in the program- trust me this isn't surprising reaction to the kind of speech he made.

This is a great teaching moment for us and our Troop. It certainly is.

You're right.

The pastor in Michigan called a halt to Trump's nonsense when he started bashing Clinton, but one could not possibly expect the BS leaders to have that much sense or character.

Had I been there, I would have pulled the plug about the time Trump launched into the nudge-nudge business about what went on with the yacht. What kind of talk is that around young boys?

If you were at the Jamboree with your Troop, how would you have guided them?

He is becoming senile with age, which is why he needs to retire. Let's face it, America elected our angry Republican Grandpa, who watched too much cable news and humiliates close family at speaking events with his crazy ramblings.

I agree that Trump should never have been invited to give a speech. Good Lord, we all know how that would go. A video clip would have been plenty.

Lord of the Flies is exactly why we have organizations like Scouting to provide guidance, leadership, opportunities to develop character.

To see all this time, effort and energy result in a 40,000 Lord of the Flies boys is disappointing.

Yeah, I posted the true link earlier. Post #495 has the full comment by the Scout Executive. My issue is why didn't they post that until two days after instead of this... http://www.scoutingnewsroom.org/pres...onal-jamboree/

The Boy Scouts of America is wholly non-partisan and does not promote any one political position, candidate or philosophy.

The invitation for the sitting U.S. President to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition dating back to President Franklin Roosevelt in 1937. Since then, an invitation to speak has been extended to every U.S. President that has had a Scout Jamboree occur during his term. This 80-year-old custom of inviting Presidents to speak to Scouts is in no way an endorsement of any person, party or policies. Rather, the speaking invitation is based on our “Duty to Country” from the Scout Oath and out of respect for the Office of the President of the United States.

As one of America’s largest youth-serving organizations, the Boy Scouts of America reflects a number of cultures and beliefs. We will continue to be respectful of the wide variety of viewpoints in this country.
That one wasn't strong enough considering the tone of the President and the firestorm it became.
