Despite a drumbeat of criticism from President Donald Trump, congressional Republicans have expressed strong support for former FBI Director Mueller, who was appointed earlier this year to investigate allegations of Russian meddling in the U.S. election and possible links to the Trump campaign. They have also rallied around Sessions, a former senator from Alabama who has become a daily target of critical tweets from Trump.

It is about time they rein in Trump.

If they have the numbers to override a veto, he should fire Mueller then sign it.

I hope Trump fires both Sessions and Mueller. He needs to do it before this bill gets passed.

And the senate will appoint mueller as a special investigator, and Trump will have alienated Sessions supporters.

I agree, that sounds like a awesome plan!

It's a Republican initiated bill - started by Lindsey Graham. They are trying to protect Trump from himself.

The Republicans in congress likely won't have the bolz to impeach him (if he fires Mueller), so instead, they want to tie Trump's little hands behind his back. Impeachment discussions might cause the Trumplings to vote against the GOP in 2018. It's easier to stop him now from doing more harm(firing Mueller, releasing Russian Sanctions).

This way the GOP doesn't get more mud on their face later(if Mueller was fired). They are taking the path of least resistance....stop Trump now from doing even more damage to the GOP(if he fired Mueller).

Even though it is the path of least resistance for the GOP (pay now or pay more later), at least they are resisting! #resist

Ultimately Trump will prevail anyway. They should give up now.

Senate will just put Mueller back in play.

The investigation is happening whether trump wants it to or not. His interference only points towards guilt, if he's got nothing to hide its best to stay out of the way.

Given the way that Trump wants to obstruct the investigation into his Russian entanglements, many Senate Republicans, like most the sane world, suspect Trump is a compromised figure, and is hiding something. This is the first hint from Republicans that Country may be more important than party or blind loyalty to a loose cannon.

It is therefore in their interest to get Trump out sooner rather than later, especially before 2018.

Seems the turning point is when Trump started attacking Sessions...a trusted loyal Republican.

If it wasn't for Trump's devoted supporters, he'd already be gone. Our entire country is in essence being held hostage right now.
