FBI General Counsel James Baker is a close confidant of former FBI Director James Comey, and he was reportedly advising the then-FBI director on legal matters following private meetings the former director had in February with President Trump in the Oval Office. Baker was appointed to the FBI's general counsel by Comey in 2014 and has had a long and distinguished history within the intelligence community.

The hubris of people who think they are above the law is jaw dropping. Foolishly throwing away respect and successful careers. Drain this swamp!

Circa has been great at breaking stories lately so read it here and maybe bookmark that site for past and future stories.

James Baker is one of the six people at the FBI that Comey discussed Trump's inappropriate comments with.

Team Trump is working its way through the six, doing their best to discredit each one.

The link is to a RW clickbait site.

Beware.

Why do you feel threatened by real news instead of the clickbait at WashingPoo and NY Slime?

Lawyers are SUPPOSED to be trusted confidants! Confidentiality is written into their job description by law!

How many other professions have criminal consequences for breaches of confidentiality? Very few. Very, very few.

If Comey spoke to the senior FBI counsel about a matter of legality that concerned him and could affect his agency as well, that wold be a normal part of any lawyer-client relationship. That's what Baker was hired for, as was Comey. This is no different that John Doe meeting with his lawyer over a legal matter.

Since both were the leaders of their respective areas of responsibility, it is right and proper that one leader would consult with the other.
It is only right and proper that the two would know each other. That is to be expected. But it does not mean each would necessarily protect the other, or even if they like each other personally.

We are talking about seasoned, experienced and very professional people here who both took their jobs very seriously. Professionals do not have to like each other to work well together. And friendship does not take over when serious national matters of concern are at stake.
The possibility of Presidential blackmail by a foreign power would certainly be such a matter. But since the meetings are confidential, we do not know what was discussed or what conclusions were reached, if any.

Cops, even if they are FBI, are not legal experts. Their job is law enforcement, and enforcement demands guidance once in a while. That's why city police have to meet with a city prosecutor. The prosecutor is the police's legal counsel in matters of enforcement. If the lawyer says he cannot prosecute, the cops cannot pursue any more enforcement on someone. Or the reverse. This happens daily somewhere in the nation.

In any matter that may be criminal, or not, it is the lawyer's job to decide if it is or not, not the police's job. It seems to me that Comey was acting correctly, both for him self and for the agency he led, when he met with Baker. Baker did his job, just as he was hired to do.

That meeting was not above the law. It was properly within the law.

As head of a large agency, it would be within Comey's bounds of responsibility to speak to other legal counsel as well, as it is doubtful any single lawyer is completely versed on all the many actions the FBI does. With such a broad authority, there must be many specialized legal experts, all lawyers, who work for the FBI.

Why are you so threatened you need to resort to childish (and not very clever) wordplay?

Speaking of missing the point: If being "under investigation" is a determination of guilt, then I guess Trump , and his cronies, are royally screwed, eh?
