Good choice. These players are constantly interviewed by crowds of reporters-plenty opportunities to express free speech.

This was a topic long before the President made it an issue two days ago.

Coach Tomlin says he won't play politics so they will skip the whole thing. Guess what? You just did play politics.

The team should be given a delay of game penalty and fined for not being on the field on game time ready to play as stated in the NFL rulebook. A forfeit would even be better.
Nah I like this approach. Players don't have to decide to stand or kneel, which can cause divisions not only between the players and the fans, but also between the players who choose to stand and those who choose to kneel. Smart move on Tomlin's part, I think.

Delay of what? There was no delay of game.

For once I like the way this was handled. I think it's quite smart. People come to watch football, not players ideologies spilling over. Leave the crap in the locker rooms and come out to play the game and do their jobs. Damn simple solution if you ask me.

to Tomlin!

One player came out. He was a veteran. I respect his salute as well as the team’s right to stay in the locker room.

As a citizen of the United States, I rely on our elected leaders to stay focused on the big picture, those issues that affect the safety & security of our nation. Whether or not a professional athlete kneels on the sidelines during the playing of the anthem is irrelevant to the big picture. This is not the same thing as, say, air traffic controllers striking. Or to give a more current example, an east Asian dictator threatening to lob a hydrogen bomb in our general direction. Or the fact that more and more Americans are struggling to afford health care. Trump is opining on this issue because he's completely in over his head with what he really needs to be focusing on. That is becoming more and more obvious with each passing day.

If Donald Trump truly loved the flag and anthem as much as he says he does, where was he in the late 60's when his nation needed him?
