I'm guessing resistance to THAAD in S Korea is going to lower after these tests, but I could be wrong.

China has been massing military near the N Korean border in the last few weeks. Whatever happens, I don't expect China to run to N Koreas defence like last time. Most likely it's to manage any refugees and keep stability in NE China.

I think N Korea will be all alone this time around if there is a war, hopefully there isn't. I'd much rather see infighting take down North Korea. But it will still be interesting to see what happens, if China runs in and props up a new government or if the S Koreans and allies can get in first to gain control. It will be like a game of capture the flag, whoever gets there first will get control. Hopefully S Korea and they can rejoin the two countries.
And everyone seems to conveniently forget that the war with N. Korea has never "officially" ended ..... what you have is a 64 year old "armistice" signed in temporary absence of a peace accord which HAS NEVER BEEN NEGOTIATED. N.Korea has violated this armistice on MANY occasions.

You're the one claiming it's a "distinct possibility" that they can get away with a nuclear attack without reprisal.

So, yeah....in the face of that claim without solid support.....I call bullcrap.

When the burden of proof is on the claimant (hint: that's you) then it's a sufficient counter-argument given the quality of your thesis.

Yeah, NK has been pulling crap for decades. Whenever they do, the partisan sheep run around blaming whichever president is in office if it's politically advantageous for them to do so.

So currently, it's all Trumps fault. When it used to be all Obama's fault lol....and so on and so forth.

Frankly, I run out of patience with these people at times. It's like dealing with children that think they've got a clue.

Few things:

NK simply wants a seat at the bog boy table. No different than Iran, India, Pakistan etc. Iraq was working towards that and look what not getting there got them. The rules change when a country has nukes and countries that view their security as suspect know the only way to really ensure that they don't get Iraq'd or pushed around is to invest heavily in the deterrent.

Shooting a missile that lands in Japan's waters is not the same thing as shooting one that is targeting japan.

Getting involved militarily on the Korean peninsula is a mistake. Short of them actually attacking another country there is no reason what so ever to get involved over there. End of story.

Until then, any action needs to go through China unless Kim steps up and moves to attack. We can continue to invest in missile shield technology and we have to realize that the rest of the world isn't going to play second fiddle to American interests while we bully everyone into our line of thinking. The rest of the world is rapidly advancing and very soon we are going to be drowning under our own debt and military spending. We are on the verge of crumbling from within from our own stupid choices. The rest of the world only needs to wait another few decades. Let's not accelerate things by getting into a ground war in Asia again. They really haven't worked out well for us.

LOL, just reiterating your last statement is not valid.
Both the Chinese and the Russians have official plans to use battlefield nukes and plans for possible escalation.
Think NK doesn't?

Getting closer to home....This missile would have a theoretical range of at least 10,400 kilometres (about 6,500 miles). That means it could have reached Los Angeles, Denver or Chicago, depending on variables such as the size and weight of the warhead that would be carried atop such a missile in an actual attack.
