I wonder if Trump thinks his supporters are stupid enough to believe this?

Oh wait, are they?

Yeah, really... doing something that is, at best a bit immoral, and at worst, illegal... and then saying it doesn't matter because they didn't get the dirt... and then, not admitting they tried until they were cornered on it. Seems like a problem.

He does, and *maybe* they are... at the very least, they have a whole lot of confirmation bias going on so that they can feel good about believing him.

IMHO Russia wasn't trying to help Trump. They were trying to expose Hillary for the criminal she is so that when the inevitable happened, her winning, the world wouldn't take her seriously. They were trying to undermine her eventual presidency.

Well, it backfired on them as I think Trump will be tougher on them than Hillary ever would have been.

Assange said he had stuff on Trump but that it was useless because Trump was already doing and saying things more controversial than the stuff.
Also the 2005 Access Hollywood tape and the sexual harassment accusers would also be bigger than anything Assange had.

FBI's Comey: Republicans also hacked by Russia - CNNPolitics.com
Quote:
FBI director James Comey told a Senate panel that there was "penetration on the Republican side of the aisle and old Republican National Committee domains" no longer in use. Republicans have previously denied their organizations were hacked.

The testimony came in a Senate intelligence committee hearing that examined Russia's intrusions in the 2016 election campaign and its intentions, with America's top intelligence officials testifying just days after they released an unclassified report blaming Moscow for the hacks.

Comey later added that "there was evidence of hacking directed at state-level organizations, state-level campaigns, and the RNC, but old domains of the RNC, meaning old emails they weren't using. None of that was released."

Comey said there was no sign "that the Trump campaign or the current RNC was successfully hacked."
Asked by Sen. Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, whether the hacker had the ability to selectively leak that old information, Comey indicated that they did.

Comey also said that the Russians "got far deeper and wider into the (Democratic National Committee) than the RNC," adding that "similar techniques were used in both cases."

Given the competence Trump has demonstrated, is it plausible that Russian meddling in the election was to prevent Trump's election?

It certainly elevates Russian intelligence if they were actively working against him. Was the purpose of the Russian meeting with Kremlin related officials to sabotage his administration if he won?
Yeah.....this is such a weak attempt at diversion it's sad.

I've always found it suspicious that Russians wanted Trump over Hillary.
Hillary gave them 20% of our uranium
Hillary voted to remove Russian sanctions.
Hillary pressed the reset button.
Hillary was a pushover like Obama.

Trump wanted increased military, increased oil and gas production in America, a way stronger economy -- not good for Russia.

The new investigation into Fusion GPS is making it pretty clear the Russians wanted to smear Trump. How deep,it,goes we won't know for a while.
I'm just wondering if it was the DNC that paid them -- Fusion refuses to say who paid them for all the Trump smears, but evidence is starting to show there's a democrat connection and a Kremlin connection.

It certainly looks that way.

Yep, it's the new spin. Russian actually hates Trump because Trump loves Russia, or some drivel. Or, Trump will be "tough on Russia," which is also drivel because Trump's views wildly swing all over the place, with only common theme being how easily he is manipulated and how he acts only in his own best interest. Russia would love a patsy like that since Putin understand how to manipulate a moron like Trump, and Trump is too stupid, arrogant, and used to being "the big man" to even understand how he's being manipulated.

It doesn't matter. Even if Trump publicly sworn an oath of allegiance to Putin, handed him the nuclear briefcase with codes on the White House lawn in full view of hundreds of reporters, and then goosestepped off the stage, as a hammer and sickle flag was raised above, Trumplings would just blame the "liberal media" or "Obama" or gays, Muslims, etc. They are beyond facts and reason, as this latest laughable spin proves. Nobody with a clue will believe, which means 1 in 3 Americans will buy right into it.
