Atleast people know what is climate change here and taking steps for it. People in developing world don't even know about such things and they will be the first to go.

"Third world" is a terms liked by most of the people irrespective of party affiliation.

The reason is because it's not true....Sea level continues to rise at over 3mm per year.

Sea levels fell for last two years.
Can't read the chart??? April 2015, 80mm....April 2017, 86.4 mm....How is that not an increase?

Conservatives aren't against a clean environment. Don't conflate valuable environmental regulation with the nonsense that is anthropogenic global warning. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant.

I wonder..if instead of cherry-picking report or just blindly posting a link from a dubious source..if just a simple Google search would improve your posts?

I take no position of the cause of many of our changes--but the observable data shows something is happening...maybe time to plan a little..for our grandchildren's futures.

Zero Hedge - RationalWiki article about the site
"Zero Hedge is a bat**** insane Austrian school finance blog run by two pseudonymous founders who post articles under the name "Tyler Durden," after the character from Fight Club. It's essentially apocalypse porn. It has accurately predicted 200 of the last 2 recessions."

Even Wikipedia says this about it:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Hedge
"Zero Hedge is an English-language financial blog that aggregates news and presents editorial opinions from original and outside sources. The news portion of the site is written by a group of editors who collectively write under the pseudonym "Tyler Durden" (a character from the novel and film Fight Club).
Zero Hedge's content has been classified as conspiratorial, anti-establishment, and economically pessimistic,[3] and has been criticized for presenting extreme and sometimes pro-Russian views.[1][4][5]"

Any site with posts attributed to a movie character is so beyond low credibility that it boggles the mind.

Wouldn't it be funny though, we all are finally forced to do nothing but environmentally sound things, and in the end, a giant meteor comes and smashes into the planet as a kind of, "well, nice of you to try and keep your planet green, but mother nature has to remind you that you pitiful humans are just small ants in this universe and have no impact whatsoever in the grand scheme of things".

Either way, things always find ways to right itself.

Plastic island? As in it is a solid landfill?

Are you aware that there are myths and exaggerations? You fell for myths. Much of this "plastic trash island" is like flakes of pepper in a soup.

How Big Is the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch"? Science vs. Myth | response.restoration.noaa.gov

Did you know that the scientific estimate is less than 270,000 tons of plastic, not your 3,000,000 tons of plastic?

Let's assume I am wrong and we could easily clean all of this out and do. How much would the oceans levels fall - will I be wrong that it would not be much?

If it is floating it would be less dense then water, which is 0.58 ounces per inches cubed.

1 US ton is 32,000 ounces. So you are saying there are 96 Billion ounces of plastic...if it hypothetically has the same density as water that would equate to 465,000 inches cubed of plastic in the oceans.

At this point, I want you to stop and take out a map of the earth and truly appreciate how vast the oceans are. 70.9% of the earths surface is ocean and connected seas. Imagine how much effort it would take in humans purposefully dumping anything into the oceans to get a mere 1 inch raise. Do you even think that would be an easy feat to do if we wanted to raise ocean levels through dumping crap in it?

This map accurately portrays surface area of the earth. Look at all of that blue. How easy would it be to get all of that blue to rise 1 inch due to dumping floating plastic in it as you say?!?! Just think.

The world's oceans are 140 Million square miles in surface area.
https://hypertextbook.com/facts/1997/EricCheng.shtml

Which is about 4 Billion square inches.

So we are talking about if we could remove all of this plastic trash from the earth's oceans, they would lower the earth's oceans by "0.00011 inches!"

Obviously we should not dump waste into the oceans, but it is not causing rising sea levels - sure other environmental problems, but not rising seas levels.

Scooping out plastic trash is an impractical way of solving rising ocean levels, period.

Because it's just a lie you fools keep falling for. Your precious democratic leaders are just as dangerous to the environment as the conservatives. The biggest sponsors and donors of the democratic party are also some of the biggest polluters. Take Hollywood, the music industry, the sports industry and the media industry. How many gas guzzling cars, planes and boats do they use all of the time? How much carbon is released into the air everytime they want to film an explosion for a movie scene? How much energy is used to maintain those massive and lavish mansions, or how much water is used to keep their exotic lagoons and private getaways filled? Like Bill Gates? He's got like 5 horse ranches (I live just down the street from one of them and know his equestrian daughter through affiliates) and the energy that is used to keep those massive places maintained is enormous.
