It all comes down to Jerusalem. That's a battle that none of us should want to see fought.
Under Muslim control no one will have access to it except for Muslims just like Mecca or under Jewish control everyone will have access to it which includes Muslims. That's what the battle will be for.
Does this mean we can stop all financial support to both sides?
Both sides? Will have to include Egypt and Jordan funding also. Keep in mind that the funding of Israel, Egypt and Jordan is bounce back funding as nearly all of it is spent as welfare for the military sector of the US.
After 50 years of negotiations in some minimal matter and for someone to finally state "There may be no solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict" is pretty much stating the truth. The Israelis are not going to pack up their bags and leave the entire country as the Palestinians want to happen. The Palestinians are trying to do politically what they couldn't do by multiple wars.
While that is true that statement shouldn't be coming from someone that was sold to us a expert on resolving the conflict. Kushner has no experience, what exactly qualifies him as an expert on Israel. Although there may not ever be a solution we keep trying because it can always be worse, as someone indicated previously his statement might be taken as a signal that anything goes.
Any statement should be coming from Tillerson and the state department, not some cabinet novice.
Plus, since after a mere 6 months of dabbling in this matter, Kushner has decided that since he cannot do it, no one can! After all, Kushner is a diplomat on par with Kissinger! LOL
At least the US will now not waste 3.5 years trying to do something that doesn't want to be done.
If Kusher said that , then he is displaying gross incompetence by suggesting there may be "no solution" that gives license to either side to pursue a military solution. Complete idiot to say anything along those lines. the idea is to make it hard for them to avoid talking, instead of giving them excuses.
Yes, he committed a grave sin for anyone in politics....

Let it become "Worse" as "Better" doesn't work. When all the Jews left the Gaza Strip did "Better" happen? Nope (rockets were flying out of Gaza within hours). When Gilad Shalit was released from being a hostage of HAMAS and 1,027 Palestinians were released in trade did "Better" happen? Nope (many of them have been re-arrested nationally and internationally).
From the Atlantic magazine, quoting President Trump:
“We want to create peace between Israel and the Palestinians. We will get it done,” Trump said. “We will be working so hard to get it done. I think there is a very good chance and I think we will.”
At a lunch later on, he was even bolder: “It is something that I think is frankly, maybe, not as difficult as people have thought over the years.”
One gets the vaguely disturbed feeling that Mr. Trump believes that he could bring the parties to the negotiating table (with Mr. Kushner presiding) with promises that both Israel and any Palestinian state, if they reached an agreement, would both receive, as a prize or an incentive, a Trump Hotel in each territory, as well as other Trump Enterprise properties (condos, apartments, ice skating rink, etc.).
I am not being totally tongue in cheek: a person with a particular area of expertise usually thinks, when presented with a problem, that the solution will be found via said area of expertise.
Hence, if presented with the Middle East problem, a General will advocate a military solution. A diplomat, a diplomatic solution. A real estate developer, a real estate solution.
It is the way of the world.
