It's a win-win. The Trump base will be happy because Americans shouldn't have to compete with low skilled immigrants for jobs. The socialist wing of the democratic party should be happy because Australia and Canada both have merit based systems. Will the political establishment be able to block it, that's the big question.

Although it will be interesting to see where the opposition comes from. Because my guess is that a lot of business folks will oppose it. Including the Koch brothers, who donate to a lot of R campaigns.
Of course businesses will oppose. A great number of immigrants are employed sponsored. Some others, like Cubans who the Republicans like to import are mostly unskilled.

The slashers are back. Cutting out waste, fraud and abuse wasn't enough. They are hacking away at other disastrous policy's that drag down the country and make us more like the third world. Liberals hate that. They will resist. Its what they do.

Nice, and not a minute late to the party, someone breaks open the liberal playbook, if you don't like the other guy they are automatically a dictator/hitler. Well done, keep the game going.

Most people from India taking our jobs are still in India. They don't need to immigrate.

I'm ok ending the lottery program, but that is only a small fraction of the legal immigrants (50K out of 1 million).

Looks to me that this will be another great legislative success for Trump - like the ACA repeal. But - I could be wrong...

I don't object to this but what are the reasons?

Why a 10 year plan. Why not just the quotas for next year and then review again in a year?

Agreed. ( Are you surprised?)
