And yes, that is exactly what they tried here.

A Pueblo couple's car was stolen in June and later recovered by Colorado Springs police officers.

According to records obtained by the I-TEAM, Mary and Clyde Antrim's Ford Crown Victoria sat in a police impound lot for more than a month---eventually racking up fees.

The couple says cops never called them to pick up their car. Instead, News 5 Investigates discovered police planned to sell it at an auction.

Well that should have never happened, especially since they were calling every week about the car.

More reactions from he said she said BS. I bet it went down nothing like they claim. That's usually how these types of things end up. They probably called several times and the old lady either didn't answer or listen to messages. There is more to this than is being reported. A police dept. isn't going to steal your car. Whoever believes that is an ass.

"It is the policy of the Colorado Springs Police Department that victims of crimes whose vehicles are towed as part of the criminal investigation will not be charged tow/impound storage fees while at the Impound facility," Sgt. Garza wrote via email.
"Yet we found the department wanted to charge Mary $178 to get her car back."
There was no record of the police making any calls. The only record shows that she was told it was impounded for investigation in July.

Who would have thought that the Baltimore police dept would rob you, but it seems that is what they did. There is actually these kinds of accusations going on in many places.

Not a chance.

Read the article.

July 10 - the owner sees on the Internet that the car is set to be auctioned. The same day, the investigative reporter contacts the police. The next day the police send a letter to the owner backdated to July 7 saying it's ready for pick-up..
