This question is debatable, a political and legal question
And social
Is there divine legislation permitting the killing of prisoners of war?

A guide to the Geneva Convention for beginners, dummies and newly elected world leaders

Re POWs specifically, The Geneva Conventions and Prisoners of War
Quote:
The Convention requires that POW's "must at all times be treated humanely," and goes on to list a number of specific requirements: they must not be killed, seriously endangered, mutilated or subject to medical or scientific experiments. Furthermore, they must be protected against acts of violence or intimidation, and against "insults and public curiosity" (Article 13).

The United States executed a number of them during WW2.

I believe they were tried and convicted of killing other POWs.

Source?
This would have been before the Geneva Convention so it's irrelevant to the thread. Still I'm curious.

No. Not without a trial.

If you wanted to smear Truman, you should have said so from the get-go.

The answer to your thread question remains: according to the Geneva Convention, no. The Geneva Convention wasn't in effect in 1943, when the events in your article happened.
In which case, you should have asked "WAS it permissible to kill POWs in 1943?" It's like asking if slavery is legal.

If it would mean saving your own life, then yes.

The Geneva Conventions do not allow the killing of a prisoner
And also the human conscience does not allow the killing of prisoners of war
This is the general principle of human morality

I think that America is implementing these principles in its wars
As well as civilized nations
I believe that Christianity does not allow the killing of the prisoner

But what is the position of the Koran from killing a captive

I think the answer to this question will be a very big shock
Because the Koran allows the killing of the prisoner
It is a very clear text
I believe that the Islamic state in Iraq was applying the texts of the Koran in a very honest manner

So what are the best laws of Geneva or the word of God?

That's just silly talk, the Geneva Convention didn't invoke the word of God.
